I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Houston Texas. I received my Master's in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio Texas and have worked with children and families for over 10 years, initially providing case management to children and pregnant women, along with psychotherapy. Lately, my focus has been on young adults dealing with life transitions through careers, relationships parenthood, middle adulthood into flourishing older years
Clients can expect a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. I believe the initial session is a crucial step where we will build rapport and engage in a comprehensive assessment to thoroughly understand your current challenges and goals. I will take the time to explain the therapeutic process in detail, ensuring you are comfortable and informed about what to expect. I will also answer any questions you may have and hope to set a firm foundation for a successful counseling relationship
My greatest strengths include my extensive experience working with diverse populations and having a strong ability to provide compassionate care. My experience across various healthcare settings has honed my skills in effectively addressing and managing complex mental health needs.
I have successfully used CBT in my practice with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and prolonged grief to challenge automatic thoughts and unhelpful thinking styles. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors influence each other. We’ll explore ways to change these thinking patterns, and help you reduce stress, anxiety, manage grief or other problematic issues you may be experiencing.
Sometimes we go through life carrying guilt, shame and regrets from past situations that we wish we could go back and change. Struggling with these thoughts can rob us of the joy we deserve. We'll work together to identify recurrent themes, and clarify values that we can embrace as we learn to gently work through the difficulties and toward acceptance of new opportunities.
As an immigrant, I am keenly aware of ways that acculturation can impact your self-esteem and overall perception of yourself and your role in your new home. Together, we will explore these issues with empathy and find ways to navigate and adjust to these new experiences, to create a personal narrative that is consistent with who we truly are
I work from a strength-based perspective, shining a light on your uniqueness. Sometimes we feel defeated by life and lose sight of the strengths we possess. Togerher we can look within and start a journey of self-exploration
