Hello and welcome! Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and I want to honor the courage it takes to begin this process. I'm Elizabeth Parrish, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with over six years of experience. I hold a Master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University and am passionate about helping individuals navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and low self-esteem. My work often focuses on issues stemming from relationship difficulties, work stress, family dynamics, and other life stressors. As a compassionate therapist, my goal is to work collaboratively with you to discover peace, clarity, and confidence. I strive to create a supportive, honest, and authentic therapeutic relationship where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Together, we’ll work toward building the life you deserve.
In our first session, you’ll find a warm, understanding, and accepting space where we’ll begin to explore the reasons you’ve sought therapy. We’ll take time to discuss your current challenges, your goals for counseling, and any important background that will help me gain a deeper understanding of your unique journey. I tailor my approach to your unique needs, offering acceptance and support as you process experiences, heal from trauma, and move toward growth. This session is an opportunity for you to share at your own pace, ask any questions you may have, and lay the foundation for a collaborative, empowering path forward.
As a therapist, I consider my ability to establish a safe, empathetic space as one of my core strengths, where clients can openly share vulnerable aspects of their lives while feeling heard and supported. I bring a sense of genuine authenticity to our sessions, staying true to myself while nurturing an environment conducive to growth. My approach centers on recognizing strengths and promoting self-reflection to foster personal development and awareness.
My ideal client is someone who is struggling with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, and may not fully understand why they feel the way they do. They often carry a sense of emotional heaviness, self-doubt, or inner criticism that impacts their daily life, relationships, and overall sense of well-being. While they may not always be able to clearly identify the root cause, their experiences are frequently shaped by past or current relationships, unresolved trauma, or patterns that have left them feeling unseen, unworthy, or disconnected from themselves. These clients are often insightful and self-aware on some level, but feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, rumination, or emotional overwhelm. They may find themselves replaying situations, questioning their worth, or feeling like they are “not enough.” At the same time, they have a desire for change—even if they feel unsure of where to start. They are open to exploring their inner world and are willing, at their own pace, to begin understanding how their past has shaped their present. I am best positioned to support individuals who want to build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with themselves. My ideal client is seeking not just symptom relief, but deeper healing—someone who wants to develop insight, learn practical coping tools, and feel more grounded and confident in who they are. Together, we work to create a safe, supportive space where they can process their experiences, make sense of their emotions, and begin to rebuild their sense of self-worth in a meaningful and lasting way.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I've been using DBT in my practice for the last 8 years. Many people don't realize they are not living in the present moment. They are thinking about the future which causes anxiety or they are thinking about the past that leads to depression. DBT helps clients to learn skills to manage their emotions, tolerate distress and improve relationships. In therapy I work with clients and teach them the skills in DBT such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been using CBT in my practice for the last 8 years. It has helped numerous clients challenge their thoughts and replace them with more positive and empowering thoughts to help with their anxiety. I believe that problematic thinking patterns, learned behaviors and core beliefs can be the cause of many psychological issues. I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts, learn self-help strategies, and change behaviors.
Eclectic
Every client is unique so based on their needs I use an eclectic approach to therapy that is flexible, and uses multiple therapeutic techniques and orientations to address the client's needs. I tend to use aspects from CBT, DBT, Trauma Informed, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, inner child work and attachment styles depending on the clients needs.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use a collaborative approach that focuses on what clients can do, rather than what they can't do while emphasizing the client's strengths, resources, and desires. Then I help clients define specific goals and create practical strategies for achieving them.
Supportive
While a client is in a therapeutic session with me I provide supportive therapy by listening to the client while exploring and normalizing their feelings. I also help the client to feel understood and respected without judgement to help improve their self-esteem and alleviate symptoms.
