Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I received my master's degree from Dallas Baptist University in Counseling Psychology. I have been in the mental health field for over twenty years where I started out in psychiatric hospitals as a mental health technician, and I ended my hospital career as a Hospital Administrator. I have been a part of building some amazing clinical programs, so I know the struggles and frustrations that we all experience at some point in our life. I have been doing private practice primarily for the past 2 years and loving every moment. I really enjoy helping people through struggles at different stages of their life.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
My greatest strengths would be first my ability to cut through the distractions and help each client get to the core of the problem. Secondly, I am extremely empathetic, and I create a safe place for each client to process their struggles without any judgement or criticism. Finally, I provide structure, education, guidance, and consistency, everything that is needed for true change to occur.
I have personally worked with almost every population at some time or another, but I enjoy counseling adults and geriatric clients, mostly struggling with balancing the different areas of their life or just life transition, in general. I enjoy counseling individuals, but I really enjoy counseling couples. I have been married for 17 years and I understand the joy and frustrations that marriage can bring. I am very educated on the DSM Manual, and I have been trained on having certain treatment plans for people dealing with array of mood disorders. In my practice I help people all the time learn how to live with ADHD, Bipolar, Depression, anxiety disorders, and past trauma to name a few.
I am a licensed psychotherapist and a cognitive behavioral therapist (CBT), specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, and life transition. I am trained in individual, couples, and family counseling. My counseling style is interactive and directive, and we’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
First, I do both secular and Christian counseling, and I don't enforce a certain belief system on any of my clients. However, true healing comes from a multitude of approaches. We sometimes need to heal, physically, mentally, and spiritually if true change is to occur. If you are struggling with your spiritual belief system and need someone to help you process your thoughts or feelings with no judgement or criticism, then I would be more than happy to help you!
