Hello, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) located in Florida. I completed my Master's at the University of Alaska. I have practiced therapy for the past 5 years. My primary focus is working with adolescents and adults; helping them through overwhelming emotions and learning appropriate coping strategies to successfully navigate trauma, life's stresses and interpersonal relationships. I look forward to assisting you in finding practical strategies to implement into your daily life.
In the first therapy session, clients typically discuss their reasons for seeking therapy, share relevant personal history, and establish goals with the therapist. Expect a focus on building rapport and creating a safe space for open communication. We will work together to create a plan personalized to your needs.
My greatest strengths as a therapist include empathetic listening, creating a non-judgmental space, and tailoring therapeutic approaches to meet individual client needs. I prioritize collaboration and fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I have been a Christian for over 20 years. In that time I have experienced many ups and downs in my walk with Jesus. This experience helps me use Biblical principles combined with current therapeutic practices to assist in mental health and spiritual development. We can explore what the Bible says, apply it to the struggles you may be facing and focus on His peace.
I have used CBT over the last 5 years to help dozens clients targets specific behaviors they want to change and help them learn, practice and implement the skills needed to make those changes. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
I believe compassion is the cornerstone of an effective therapist. You will not only feel that compassion but learn to have compassion towards yourself.
For the past 5 years I have worked with families, parents & children, siblings, and adoptive families. We will uses a variety of techniques to explore the problem areas, have open and safe communication and work towards common ground and compromises.
Reality Therapy also known as Choice therapy focuses on the staying in the present. We will acknowledge the past, look to the future but focus on the here and now. We will explore what is in your control, what choices are available and how to move forward. We will work to recognize that not everything will be in our control and how to work within those situations and still be successful.
