Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds and professions, including first responders, law enforcement personnel, active-duty military members and their families, nurses, attorneys, and many others facing a wide range of life challenges.
Life's difficulties are a natural part of the human experience. At times, individuals may feel isolated in their struggles or believe that no one truly understands what they are going through. These thoughts can contribute to anxiety, depression, substance use, and other challenges that impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life. When left unaddressed, these difficulties can become overwhelming and interfere with one's ability to move forward.
I believe that meaningful change is possible through a compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based therapeutic approach. My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain insight, build effective coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier ways of managing life's challenges. Together, we can work toward healing, personal wellness, and lasting positive change.
In addition to my Psychological Therapy license, I hold specialties certifications in Drug and Alcohol addiction, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Sex Addiction, Trauma and Domestic Violence prevention.
You might feel stuck in patterns like overthinking, anxiety, or relationship stress that are hard to turn off. Even when things look fine on the outside, it can feel exhausting trying to manage everything internally.
I work with adults who want to understand these patterns and respond differently, not just cope. Our work focuses on making sense of what is happening beneath the surface while also finding practical ways to feel more clear, grounded, and in control in daily life.
I integrate trauma informed care and parts work to help you build self-trust, set boundaries, and move through challenges with more clarity and confidence.

Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) from California. I have been practicing for the past 8 years giving me experience working with a wide range of ages and populations. I have worked with clients in hospital, school, and private settings. I believe trust between a therapist and client is key for effective treatment. I enjoy helping individuals improve their quality of life.
I’m Dr. Claudia Nuñez a licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions. I believe therapy is not about reliving pain for its own sake. It is about understanding what your suffering has been signaling and bringing that understanding into the present so you can live with more clarity, self-compassion, and choice.
Many of the people I work with feel caught in anxiety and overthinking, people pleasing, guilt, burnout, or a deep sense that something needs to change but they cannot quite name what. Others are moving through grief or life transitions that have shaken their identity, relationships, or sense of direction. Some are navigating a spiritual calling or values shift, and feeling both pulled toward meaning and exhausted by the weight of it all.
My approach is integrative and evidence based, with Internal Family Systems as a foundational framework. We work with symptoms and patterns as strategies that once helped you get through something difficult. Together we identify what those strategies have been protecting, understanding your unique history, what you truly need now, and how to respond in ways that feel more aligned and sustainable.
Alongside talk therapy, I incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, and narrative reflection so insight becomes change you can feel in real life. When helpful, we use grounding and breath practices to support nervous system regulation, not to bypass pain, but to build an inner anchor and stay present with what is true. My style is warm, collaborative, trauma informed, and culturally responsive. We move at a pace that respects your boundaries while supporting meaningful growth.
¡YO HABLO ESPAÑOL!
I am an immigrant who has dedicated herself to achieving both educational and career goals, striving not only to make myself proud but also to honor the sacrifices of my family. Now, I feel it is my turn to give back to the community that has given me so much.
In 2017, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from San Diego Christian College, and in 2019, I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University.
My professional experience includes working with diverse populations throughout San Diego County who struggle with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, ranging from mood disorders to psychotic disorders. I have also supported individuals in acute mental health crises across the country, gaining a deep understanding of the complex challenges people face.
Through these experiences, I have witnessed firsthand how our environments shape and impact every one of us. This insight fuels my commitment to serving others with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a dedication to fostering resilience and healing within the communities I serve.
I've been a therapist for about eight years with a keen eye for helping others find deeper meaning through their hardships, a calming presence capable of modeling self-regulation, and a reliable ear for those that need to unload their perceived stress across different life chapters. I also offer a modern, diverse openness for cultural understanding as I am a male Latino fluent in Spanish, have Asian ethnicity, and am first-generation American. I can also empathize with perceived struggles as I grew up with low SES, was greatly affected by a custody battle into my teenage years, and became the primary healthcare agent for my father-figure until his passing from cancer during my early twenties. In more recent years, I learned the differences in transitioning from the role of a stepfather to becoming a father of a newborn. Understanding one's own pain from their story is key to learning the balancing act of validating and/or differentiating how to help others process their felt pain. I offer my therapeutic services as your existential teammate who will metaphorically walk by your side along your therapeutic journey.
