LCSW, 15 years of experience
Hola, I am Blanca "Janet" Monzon. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience working in communities of color, in the fields of education, mental health, and community organizing. I’m also a POC, an intersectional feminist, with progressive radical views. Transparency is important to me because I believe that my identities and perspective inform the way I approach working in mental health. In therapy, my goal is to help clients connect unapologetically to their most authentic selves by providing a non-judgemental space to process their inner thoughts and lived experiences. I believe therapy is a sacred space where deep healing can happen. Everyone deserves their own unique healing journey that leads to more joy, pleasure, and gentleness in our lives. I completed my Master’s in social work at California State University, Long Beach. Currently, I work as a school social worker. I often utilize; relational therapy, strength-based therapy, and feminist therapy theories in my practice centering the client’s experience in the work we do together. I have experience working with undocumented folks, first gen, and young adults. Hablo Español, English, and Spanglish!
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, expectations, and reasons to why you are seeking out therapy. It is important for me that you feel comfortable and believe that we are a good fit before continuing with our sessions.
My approach in therapy is trauma-informed, person-centered, with a social justice lens. As a social justice advocate, I recognize how societal, political, and other systems can impact our mental health. My goal is to help clients connect unapologetically to their most authentic selves by providing a non-judgmental space to process their inner thoughts. I often utilize; relational therapy, strength-based therapy, and feminist therapy theories in my practice centering the client's experience in the work we do together.
My specialties include working with first-gen, people experiencing burn out, people healing from fatphobia and diet culture, and people experiencing anxiety and/or depression.
I love working with first-gen and undocumented folks, people who are burned out or recovering from hustle culture, and anyone healing from fatphobia or diet culture. I also create an affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients to explore their identities and experiences with compassion and curiosity.
