Jo is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio with over 25 years of experience working in community and hospital settings. She has worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, adoption, parenting special needs children, and managing the struggles of being a caregiver to the geriatric and chronically ill population. Her therapy style is casual, warm, and interactive. She believes in treating every client with respect, sensitivity, and kindness. Her approach combines solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral theories and several other theories to best help the client. Jo has helped clients who have had emotional and physical trauma in the past. She will adapt her sessions and create a treatment plan that focuses on your identified needs. It takes courage to reach out and take the first step to make your life more fulfilling. If you are prepared to take the first step, I am ready to provide support and empowerment to you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

From the very first meeting, I work diligently to make sure that I give clients tools that they can use to cope with the concerns that brought them into therapy. It might be a relaxation technique or a different way of thinking about the challenges that the client is facing. My hope is that my clients leave our sessions feeling supported, not judged, and able to discuss difficult topics in a safe environment.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use a variety of therapeutic interventions and models. I use a strengths-based approach with all of my clients. Theoretical Frameworks that I frequently use include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my biggest strengths are being able to meet the client where they are in their therapy journey. I am able to easily engage clients, even those clients that might be fearful or resistant to attending therapy. I have worked with many parents of special needs children and adoptive families that have faced struggles in parenting children with multiple needs.
