Hello! My name is Kali Scott and I have been a counselor for the last 8 years with a combination of experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling. I emphasize in providing an empathetic experience to my clients by remaining open minded and supportive. My educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College. In addition to being independently licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPCC) and Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), and owner of my private practice, Vision Board Therapeutics, I am a wife and mom of 3 kids.
My clients can expect each and every session to be filled with empathy and support, they will never be alone in this journey. In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what’s bringing you in. You don’t need to prepare anything or have all the answers—we’ll move at a pace that feels safe. I’ll ask some questions to understand your background and what you'd like to work on, but it’s really a chance for you to feel things out and share as much or as little as you're ready to. In our future sessions, you can expect a warm, supportive space where we focus on what’s most important to you. We’ll explore your thoughts and feelings together, without pressure or judgment. Whether you're looking for insight, coping tools, or just space to be heard, we move at your pace and collaborate on what healing looks like for you. Each session is a mix of reflection and action. We’ll explore what’s going on emotionally and dig into patterns that may be keeping you stuck, but we’ll also work on tangible tools you can use outside of therapy. You can expect a thoughtful conversation that balances support with practical steps toward the change you want. Expect a space where you don’t have to filter yourself. I prioritize emotional safety and authenticity so you can show up just as you are—confused, hurting, hopeful, or anything in between. Over time, we build a relationship that helps you better understand yourself and feel more capable navigating life’s challenges.
What stands out about my approach is how collaborative and strengths-based it is. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method—every client brings unique experiences, and together, we build a path that honors that. I help clients identify what’s already working and expand on those strengths to create lasting change. My approach(s) blends emotional awareness with practical tools. Clients often tell me they feel deeply seen and understood, but also leave sessions with tangible strategies they can use right away. I pull from evidence-based modalities, but the heart of my work is building a trusting, empowering relationship.
For clients struggling with emotional overwhelm or identity exploration: I’m best positioned to support individuals who feel stuck in patterns of self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, or identity confusion—whether related to relationships, life transitions, or questions of who they are at their core. Many of my clients are insightful and motivated but crave a space where they can be fully seen, slow down, and explore themselves with curiosity and compassion. For clients early in recovery who feel overwhelmed or uncertain: I’m best positioned to support individuals in the early stages of recovery who feel uncertain, overwhelmed, or ashamed about where to start. If you’re someone who wants help but feels unsure about how to ask—or worries about being judged—I provide a compassionate space where you can take those first steps at your own pace. We focus on building trust, stability, and a recovery plan that actually fits your life. For those rebuilding identity and purpose after addiction: If you’ve been in recovery for a while and are now asking “Who am I without this?”—you’re not alone. I help clients rebuild a sense of identity, confidence, and purpose beyond addiction. We focus on reconnecting with what matters most to you and developing the tools to live a fulfilling, values-based life. For those navigating trauma or relational wounds: I work well with clients who are navigating the impact of trauma, especially when it's shaped how they relate to others or how safe they feel within themselves. My style is attuned and trauma-informed, and I aim to help clients make sense of what’s happened without feeling rushed or judged. Together we work toward reclaiming inner stability and connection. For people seeking tools and structure for anxiety or behavioral patterns: Clients who benefit most from our work tend to want both emotional support and practical tools. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, perfectionism, or stuck behavioral cycles, I focus on strategies that build insight and momentum—while honoring your own pace and wisdom. For those working on confidence, authenticity, or life direction: I often support clients who are high-functioning on the outside but internally wrestling with imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, or a loss of direction. Therapy becomes a place where they can reconnect with themselves, build confidence, and make decisions that reflect who they truly are—not just who they think they should be.
Kali Scott offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Ohio.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We work together to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, explore how they influence your emotions and actions, and practice new ways of thinking that support your goals.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps us explore how your emotions shape the way you connect with others and respond to challenges. In our sessions, we’ll focus on identifying core emotional patterns—especially those that show up in relationships—and work to understand the needs and fears underneath them.
I use Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to help us explore how your relationships and social experiences impact your emotional well-being. We’ll focus on patterns in your current relationships—like communication challenges, conflict, or role transitions—and work together to strengthen how you navigate them.
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you explore your own reasons for change in a supportive, nonjudgmental way. Rather than telling you what to do, I’ll ask open questions, reflect what I hear, and help you uncover what matters most to you. The focus is on your values and goals, and together we work to strengthen your motivation and confidence to move forward.
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help you identify what’s already working in your life and build on your strengths to create change. Instead of spending a lot of time analyzing problems, we focus on your goals and what small, realistic steps you can take to move forward. Together, we look for moments of success and use those as building blocks for creating the future you want.
