My passion in the mental health field is to encourage children and teens to become life-long advocates for their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. It is my hope that together, we will find useful strategies that can be built upon and continue to grow during both the ups and downs of adolescence and beyond. My clients often present with moderate to severe worries and anxiety around “typical” angst related to school, activities, and relationships. Sometimes the stress is sneaky and camouflaged to look like fatigue, irritability, and apathy. I find that many young people use coping skills that may not be the healthiest; however making the initial decision to seek out better solutions through counseling provides countless options for therapeutic approaches. In 2025, I proudly founded my own practice, Grand Wellness Group, in an effort to continue to provide the best support for clients, families, and supervision for clinical mental health providers.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I like to structure sessions to include the parent(s) for the first and last couple of minutes as a check in and then recap. Otherwise, I often remind clients that even at a young age, they are the expert on themselves and we will explore and challenge what that looks like. Sessions will ultimately be solution focused with techniques used to solve problems while always keeping short and long term goals in mind.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a Life-Long Learner: I love to learn new things and look forward to learning about each client. When it feels like you might be spinning your wheels, nothing is working, and you can’t catch a break, I will remain unconditionally open minded and encourage you to find and learn from the lessons in each life experience. I believe “I don’t know” is a real and honest answer; however, you are more knowledgeable and skillful than you realize! I will be your Encouraging Advocate: I think even the smallest victories are worth celebrating and will encourage you to recognize them as well along the way. I also look for the silver lining in every situation to remain hopeful for your future as well as uplift your ability to remain resilient in some of the toughest of times.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I think it is important to work collaboratively with adolescents and their family members to help foster and increase protective factors. It is important that the client, whether it is a child or adult, believes that they have the ability to change their mindset, make better decisions, and that whatever they are facing is only temporary and does not define them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to draw on the interplay between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and disrupting the maladaptive thinking that contributes to uncomfortable feelings and counterproductive behaviors.

Psychoeducation

An important component to therapy is understanding "why" and identifying the root of an issue. The psychoeducation component enables my clients to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I am also trained in SPACE Treatment and work directly with parents to address the anxious behaviors that their children are exhibiting. This is one of the modalities that I use to support family systems and encourage positive, healthy child and parent relationships.

Interpersonal

The development of prosocial interpersonal relationships is one of the most impactful protective factors. I will help clients to identify individuals in their support system and how to effectively communicate needs and boundaries with these individuals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

The client's unique lived experiences, values, and belief systems are integral to the therapeutic process. Each client is an individual and my approach will be tailored to those individual needs. I encourage clients to be actively engaged in the structure of the sessions and to communicate what works best for their learning styles and level of comfort in regards to change.
