Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Cleveland, Ohio. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College, majoring in psychology, and I obtained my Master of Education in clinical mental health counseling from Kent State University. I have been practicing for 7 years gaining experience with various socio-economic experiences and individuals. I help adults manage obstacles related to anxiety, depression, and relationships in order to live a more fulfilled and successful life.
The first session is different than a typical counseling session. During the first session we'll share brief introductions, I will orient you to the counseling process, and together we'll explore what lead you to counseling. I'll ask questions about various topics, such as family history, important relationships, mental health history, and education/ work history. This will help me gather the necessary information to develop your goals for counseling.
For the past 7 years I've worked in a variety of settings with a diverse clientele. This experience has helped me learn how to work with a variety of clients with comfort and ease.
I enjoy working with young adults who are navigating life's challenges such as a stressful relationship, difficult family dynamics, and improving self-esteem. I strive to help clients through their self-discovery journey by helping them create healthy boundaries, develop coping skills, creating a self-care routine, learn how to assertively communicate, and advocate for themselves.
I've found that using CBT with clients has been beneficial in helping them learn to identify, challenge, and replace irrational thoughts. CBT can be used to help clients learn how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. This allows clients to replace harmful thinking patterns, with hopes of resulting in a less stressful life.
I use person-centered therapy to encourage and support clients in their self-discovery process. Person-centered therapy can help clients gain self-confidence and develop a stronger self-identify through a non-authoritative approach. As a therapist, I believe the three principles of person-centered therapy (unconditional positive regard, empathetic understanding, genuineness) and are crucial to every therapeutic relationship.
One of goals as a therapist is to create a safe, comfortable, judgement free environment where clients are able to openly express themselves. Throughout treatment I'll attentively listen, offer support, and provide practical feedback and coping strategies.
