(she/her)
Hello, Welcome to my practice... Blessed Journey, LLC. I have been a counselor for over 20 years. I work with all ages of people. I especially enjoy working with children, ages 5-12. Cognitive-Behavior Therapy is my primary modality. I also like to add methods that allow for self-expression through the arts, focusing on solutions and play. I have training in trauma recovery as well. I want clients to leave each session with a new coping skills, motivation to make a small change and feeling they have been heard.
The first session is an intake and can seem a bit overwhelming. I will be asking a lot of questions and clarifying the information gathered. It is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and ask questions. Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes; this first session is closer to 75 minutes.
I believe in the ability of people to change and be successful. I lean toward the eternal optimist side! I am enthusiastic about my career and want to see others reach their goals. I love to listen and to talk; I also am comfortable with silence. I do not feel silence needs to be filled. I like quiet and enjoy calm, comfortable environments. Coming to counseling takes courage and strength- just by making this first step you are on the path to achieving your goals.
If you’re looking to improve your quality of life through talk therapy, you’re in the right place. I find it deeply rewarding to support individuals facing challenges like anxiety, depression, or navigating major life changes—whether that's moving to a new city, starting a family, experiencing job loss, or coping with grief. For instance, I’ve helped clients manage overwhelming anxiety by breaking down big transitions into manageable steps, and I’ve supported families through divorce by creating a safe space to process emotions and build resilience together. I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds, understanding that everyone’s journey is unique. When working with younger children (ages 6–12), I prefer in-person sessions because they allow for more interactive activities, hands-on support, and stronger rapport. However, I also offer virtual sessions for this age group when an adult is available during the session, ensuring the child feels safe and supported while we work together. My goal is to walk alongside you, providing empathy and guidance, so you can reach your fullest potential.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a great approach to the most common mental health issues. All of us have thoughts, behaviors and feelings about the things that happen in our lives. Knowing how to recognize these is the first step in being able to use effective coping skills. When we practice coping skills regularly we start using them more often and they become new responses to stressful situations. I use it in my life and personally have experienced its healing impact.
Play Therapy
Play is so important to human development. In my years of working with children I have seen the impact loss of play has had. Children need to have adults encourage creative play and participate in play with them. It has been said play is the work of childhood and I agree completely. Children play to learn, grow, heal and manage stress.
