I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC III) based in Ohio, with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals on their path to healing. I earned my Master’s degree from Walden University in Minneapolis and have devoted my career to helping adults move beyond immediate concerns and find lasting solutions for their mental health and well-being. I believe that while pain in life is unavoidable, healing and growth are always possible. My role as your therapist is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts and emotions. Using evidence-based practices, I work collaboratively with clients to navigate life’s challenges, build coping skills, and strengthen resilience. My goal is to empower you to uncover your inner strengths, achieve personal growth, and cultivate more meaningful and fulfilling relationships. Together, we can work toward creating balance, clarity, and a sense of peace in your life.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where you are encouraged to share your thoughts and feelings openly. We will begin by reviewing confidentiality and what you can expect from the therapeutic process. From there, we will explore your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. This initial meeting is designed to build trust, create a safe space for exploration, and help us develop a shared understanding of your unique needs. Together, we will begin setting goals to guide our work in future sessions. Many clients leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how therapy can support their growth and healing journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a therapist, my greatest strengths include active listening, which allows me to truly understand and empathize with each client’s experience. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space that fosters openness and trust. My adaptability enables me to tailor therapeutic approaches to the unique needs of every individual, ensuring that therapy is both personal and effective. I am also deeply committed to ongoing learning, staying current with the latest research and evidence-based practices so that I can provide the highest quality care and support to my clients.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have had the privilege of working with a diverse population of adult clients with a wide range of needs. I am best positioned to serve adults seeking support for mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, personality and mood disorders, as well as those navigating transitional life stages including career changes or significant personal losses. With extensive experience in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I help clients build resilience, develop effective coping strategies, and foster meaningful personal growth within a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment. I am also passionate about working with individuals who value self-improvement and wish to use therapy as a proactive step toward enhancing their overall well-being.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I take a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

A solutions-oriented form of talk therapy to rests on the idea that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

An action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Clients will learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

A structured program of psychotherapy with a strong educational component designed to provide skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships.

Psychoanalytic

A form of in-depth talk therapy that aims to bring unconscious or deeply buried thoughts and feelings to the conscious mind so that repressed experiences and emotions, often from childhood, can be brought to the surface and examined.

I've had the pleasure to have therapy with Angela Zurface for about 6 months. Working with her I have had the opportunity to view perspectives about myself and others in a whole new light. I have been able to work on so much self growth and feel empowered to continue to grow in my life journey. She has given me many tools throughout our time together to use daily. My life is forever changed in a positive way and I am extremely grateful to have had this time with Angela!

I felt very comfortable opening up to Angela. We set goals, she gave me strategies, and we accomplished the goals. It was also very nice to have someone to talk with and process emotions. I really enjoyed my time with her.

I am so happy to find a counselor whom I can open up myself from day one. She made sure I was heard and quickly catches my needs and assuring me that she will be able to help me cope, heal and grow through the healing process. Thank you so much Angela!
