New to Grow
I have been counseling in higher education for nearly thirty years and in private practice for over ten years. Thus, my experience has afforded me the opportunity to work with a variety of individuals and issues: I counsel clients ranging in age from 16 to 75, from various religions, genders, sexual orientations and ethnicities. I am culturally sensitive and respect diversity. Such exposure has aided me in recognizing the uniqueness in all individuals & understanding we are all the authors and pilots of our own life. A majority of individuals who make the decision to receive counseling, will discover that the answer is within if they give themselves time... My vast counseling experience includes clients/students who experience challenges in the following areas (including, but not limited to): Anxiety, sexuality, self-esteem, relationships, grief, family, illness, etc. My theoretical framework is Person Centered/Solution Focused, via talk therapy, mindfulness, meditation, creative play, eclectic approaches... Sometimes you just need someone to talk to, someone to validate what you're thinking and feeling. Being heard can make a world of difference and oftentimes, sharing your concerns, provides you with the insight to address and resolve your challenges. I can be that listening ear, the one who accompanies you on your journey without judgement and with empathy.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
You can expect a relaxed, welcoming space where you can simply be yourself. I’m easy to talk to, approachable, and genuinely interested in understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, discussing your concerns, your goals, and what you need to feel supported. I bring a patient, down-to-earth, and human approach to the work, and I’m not afraid to use gentle humor when it helps you feel more at ease. My aim is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, respected, and confident that this is a safe space for your growth.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my ability to ask the right questions at the right time. I guide clients toward deeper reflection and honest introspection, helping them uncover their own insights and solutions. Rather than giving answers, I help you access the wisdom you already carry, supporting you in building clarity, confidence, and lasting change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to serve adults who want a supportive, reflective, and goal-focused space to work through stress, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My clients tend to value insight, personal growth, and trying different tools to help create change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a foundational framework, but I do not follow a rigid, formulaic version of it. Instead, I integrate CBT principles into a more eclectic, client-centered approach that allows space for creativity, insight, and personal meaning. My approach focuses on helping clients self-reflect, recognize patterns, and self-correct in ways that feel natural and empowering. I stay grounded in the CBT concepts of identifying thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, but I expand on them by incorporating strategies from multiple therapeutic modalities. This allows clients to explore their inner world through diverse methods, not just dialogue.
