My name is Andy and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and Navy Veteran with 11+ years of experience. I am a dedicated and compassionate clinician committed to supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. In addition to my therapeutic expertise, I am also fluent in Spanish. As a military veteran, I also know how the military lifestyle affects the family. I have extensive experience in addiction counseling, EMDR therapy, and family counseling.
In our first session, we’ll focus on building a comfortable, trusting space. I’ll explain how therapy works, review confidentiality, and answer any questions you have. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your goals, and any background that feels important. Together, we’ll start shaping a plan that fits your needs. By the end, you’ll have a clear sense of what to expect moving forward.
I’m a therapist with a grounded, compassionate approach and a deep commitment to helping people feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether you are struggling with addiction, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, PTSD or any distressing events due to relationship issues, military service, or any major life events or transitions, you do not have to do it alone. I would love be part of your personal journey.
I have extensive experience in helping individuals identify and change negative or unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that contribute to their emotional distress.
I have been using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a psychotherapy that helps individuals heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. I use EMDR to help individuals process disturbing memories using bilateral stimulation, while focusing on the memory. This process can help reduce the emotional distress associated with the memory and allow individuals to process it in a healthier way.
I have extensive experience with SFBT as a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that emphasizes identifying and building upon a client's existing strengths and resources to create practical solutions for their current concerns. It is a short-term, future-focused, and collaborative therapy that centers on constructing solutions rather than dwelling on problems and their origins.
I have been working with individuals struggling with grief, where my goal is to provide support and guidance to individuals experiencing emotional and psychological distress after a loss, let it be that of a relationship, or due to death.
I have been using Person-centered therapy, also known as client-centered therapy, as a non-directive form of talk therapy that emphasizes on the client's inherent capacity for growth and self-healing. Person-centered therapy focuses on creating a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment where the client feels understood and accepted, allowing them to explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace.
