Hi, I’m Jada, a New York-based Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing virtual therapy to children, adults, and families. Born and raised on Long Island, I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University–Post. I have experience working with clients in a variety of settings, which has allowed me to develop a flexible and individualized approach to therapy. I would describe myself as warm, empathetic, patient, approachable, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves, exploring their experiences, and working toward meaningful growth and improved well-being.

First session

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming and judgment-free space where we begin getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re currently experiencing, and what you hope to get out of therapy. We’ll also explore your background, strengths, and any challenges that may be impacting your well-being. Together, we’ll begin identifying your goals and discussing strategies that may be helpful moving forward. Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for you to feel heard, ask questions, and determine whether we’re a good fit to work together.

Strengths

I bring empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental approach to each session. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being open and honest. I also bring strong active-listening and communication skills, allowing me to understand each client’s individual experiences and needs. I am adaptable and use different therapeutic approaches and interventions based on the client’s goals, personality, and stage of treatment. Most importantly, I bring genuine compassion and a commitment to helping clients recognize their strengths, build effective coping skills, and make meaningful progress.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves, work through challenges, and make meaningful changes in their life. I enjoy working with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. My ideal clients may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or difficulty managing emotions and are looking to develop healthier coping strategies and build greater confidence. I value working collaboratively with clients and meeting them where they are, while helping them identify their strengths and work toward their personal goals.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful or negative thought patterns, examine how they may be influencing emotions and behaviors, and work toward developing more balanced and realistic perspectives. Depending on the client’s needs, sessions may include identifying automatic thoughts, challenging cognitive distortions, practicing cognitive restructuring, developing coping strategies, and using behavioral techniques to support positive change. I also provide opportunities for clients to practice these skills between sessions so they can apply what they learn in therapy to everyday situations. My goal is to make CBT practical and individualized so clients can develop tools that support long-term emotional well-being and greater confidence in managing challenges.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients better understand and process their emotions while exploring how emotional patterns can influence their relationships and overall well-being. I help clients identify underlying emotions and needs, recognize patterns that may be contributing to relationship difficulties, and develop healthier ways of expressing themselves and connecting with others. Through a supportive and empathetic approach, clients can build greater emotional awareness, strengthen communication, and develop more secure and meaningful relationships. I tailor EFT interventions to each client’s needs and use the therapeutic relationship as a safe space for clients to explore emotions, practice vulnerability, and create healthier patterns of interaction.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person-centered approach to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and accepted. I believe clients are the experts in their own experiences, so I work collaboratively with them rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I use empathy, active listening, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard to help clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. My role is to support clients in identifying their strengths, increasing self-awareness, building confidence, and developing their own path toward meaningful change and personal growth.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness-based techniques to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. I teach clients practical skills such as grounding exercises, mindful breathing, body awareness, and present-moment awareness to help manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions. During sessions, we may practice mindfulness together and identify ways clients can incorporate these techniques into their daily routines. My goal is to help clients develop greater emotional awareness, improve their ability to stay present, and respond to challenging situations more intentionally rather than reacting automatically.
