Hello there, My name is MaKalia Zinn. I'm a southern gal navigating all the beauty of the west Coast. I'm Christian and fully believe in holistic healing. I enjoy looking at life through a holistic lens in my personal life and that spills into my clinical practices. I believe when I'm making time for the things that nourish me mentally, physically, and spiritually I can take on the world head first. Through my own journey of healing, mindfulness has been very instrumental with me taking care of myself holistically. Connecting with others is one of the things I look forward to throughout life. I love intimately connecting with the people that are in my life, hiking, cooking, decorating my home, road tripping and soooo many other cool things. I'm at a place in my life where I'm resting a lot more and making space for all of the things to come.... See you in session soon.

I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work as a therapist. I am bipolar and have navigated my own journey through psychiatric institutions, giving me deep insight into the challenges and triumphs of living with mental health conditions. Professionally, I have worked in psychiatric residential settings and addiction medicine, which has shaped my understanding of effective, compassionate care. My personal experiences inspire my passion for creating holistic, mindful approaches to managing complex conditions. By cultivating a stronger connection with my intuition, I have discovered tools and practices that support healing, balance, and resilience, which I bring to my clients. My approach emphasizes transformative living, fostering self-awareness, emotional regulation, and intuitive connection, while integrating Brainspotting, trauma-focused work, sensory tools, and holistic practices. I specialize in trauma-focused care with a holistic, integrative approach, believing that healing engages both mind and body. I use somatic and sensory-based practices, including Brainspotting, sound therapy, aromatherapy, and principles of hypnotherapy, to help clients regulate their nervous systems and gain insight. Alongside these approaches, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to examine and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping strategies. I have extensive experience supporting clients with addiction, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions, allowing me to meet individuals with both compassion and clinical expertise. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel supported, reconnect with themselves, cultivate resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

Hi my name is Amy and I have had the honor of providing mental health services for over the past 25 years in the Bay Area. I am so proud of you for even contemplating getting support for whatever the struggle(s) you are going through. My hope is to provide you a safe place to explore what struggles you have been carrying with you-no matter how long you have been dealing with them. I am a trauma informed and gender affirming therapist who has been fortunate to serve many different communities (e.g. children, teens, families, TAY, adults, older adults, LGBTQ+, Latinx, Asian, houseless, foster care, CSEC, persons with ASD, a variety of addictive behaviors, and a variety of immigrant communities. If you are feeling unsure of how to choose a therapist since there are so many people to chose from, I would challenge you to select a person and see if you vibe with them in 1-2 sessions and if it is not a match, ask what you are looking for so the therapist can help get you matched with someone who may be a better fit. My hope is that you simply start your therapeutic journey since I personally know how difficult that can be. In my experience most of us wait months or years to finally reach out for help and I would use that "gift of desperation" to help schedule your first session. I wish you all the best in your journey and finding a therapist you feel will support you in your time of need.

Reaching out for help can be a very vulnerable experience, but also a great attribute of strength and resilience. I work with individuals who have experienced trauma in their life. Whether it's from childhood neglect, sexual assault, natural disaster, sudden death or other life circumstances. Trauma often creates patterns and loops that extend into many areas of a person's life, and can be challenging and painful to navigate. Sometimes the way people survive their trauma brings them more pain, adds to the chaos, and reinforces negative beliefs that perpetuate the cycle. I work to empower clients to understand and alter unhealthy cycles to strengthen and better their lives. I am fluent in ASL American Sign Language and have worked with Deaf clients leaving domestic violence in both a shelter and outpatient therapy services. I have spent 2 years in correctional settings working with severely mentally ill patients and supporting their family members navigating having children with mental illness. I have also spent 2 years working with foster youth and foster parents in providing support to their placements, promoting healing and preserving relationships. Note that online scheduling is limited. Broader scheduling options will be available to regularly scheduling clients. Please also note that I do not provide opinions about disability or fitness to return to work or other activities for clients who are not well-established at the time that the request for such opinion is made.

My approach draws on psychoanalytic thinking, which revolves on one central idea: much of what we think and feel remains outside of our awareness. Sometimes we keep powerful feelings hidden so we can continue moving through the day, or we simply cannot find time to reflect on everything that is happening to us. In any case, keeping these potent experiences hidden may leave us feeling stiff, dreary, unfulfilled, or even numb and dull.

Hi there, I'm Belinda! A gently contained, consistently safe and respectful space to explore your thoughts and emotions that you have never dared to think of twice, nor have ever spoken about-- This is my offering for you. The conversations that happen in this space, and the effort spent on exploring your thoughts and feelings in a kind and curious approach is your offering to yourself. Expectations for you: Simply show up as you are. That's all. Just show up. Expectations for me: I will guide the conversation to places where it may be beneficial for you to explore. Then I will offer my feedback and observations in hopes of you getting a better understanding of yourself (how you think/feel the way you do, where it may have started, and what all this might mean for you in the future). 'Why is this important?'-- Because understanding yourself is the first step to a possible and SUSTAINABLE change. YOU are the common denominator in all your relationships and human connections that you have sole and ABSOLUTE control over. So, if you could see about making small changes in yourself, then you might see positive outcomes in your connections in the world around you. Shall we get started?

Hi there, I’m Manny. Are you currently searching for a sense of meaning and purpose in your life? Do you find yourself in an existential/spiritual emergency? Are you exploring your personal identity, expression, or sexuality? I help people of all ages increase self-awareness and decrease symptomology by bringing unconscious material into conscious awareness. Trauma combined with an emotional core (experiences of intense fear/guilt/shame) commonly splinters parts of our personality and represses such into the shadow/unconscious realms of our psyche. In response, many of us have adapted and survived by putting on masks in hopes of fitting in and being accepted by the people around us. Mental health concerns eventually arise because deep in our mind/body/soul we yearn for authenticity/individuation. Clients may also experience suicide ideation and/or self-harm because there are parts of themselves that no longer serve them. Together we can explore which aspects of ourselves to let go, in order to make space for something new to enter. I am a Doctoral Candidate from Pacifica Graduate Institute, my studies focused on Depth Psychology with a specialization in Integrative Therapy and Healing Practices. As a Holistic practitioner, I believe that each individual already possesses what is needed for their healing and it is my duty, as a guiding witness, to help the client navigate, process, and integrate such.

Hi, I'm Celina. As a second-generation Latina, I bring an informed perspective to the challenges many communities of color face, including the impact of systemic inequities, identity struggles, and cultural barriers. I also know that everyone—no matter their background—can experience moments in life that feel overwhelming. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of past trauma, or maybe the stress of everyday life feels like too much. The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for support is not always easy, but it’s a powerful and courageous step toward healing and growth. For years, I’ve dedicated myself to serving my community in a variety of settings, from community clinics to crisis counseling. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+, as well as with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and other life transitions. My work as a 911 crisis counselor especially taught me the importance of holding space during life’s most difficult moments. I believe that everyone's story matters and I’m here to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and heal. Together, we can build insight, break patterns, and create new paths forward. My goal is to walk beside you on your journey toward wellness so that when you leave, you feel empowered, grounded, and ready for what's ahead.

My inspiration to become a therapist came from my parents, who immigrated to the United States with resilience, compassion, and determination to create a better life. Watching them navigate barriers while raising 7 children and running a small business taught me perseverance, growth, and kindness. From their example, I learned that even in hardship, barriers can be broken down with humility, care, and compassion. I carry those lessons into my work, integrating my expertise in the field and real-life wisdom into my work walking alongside with clients. For over a decade, I’ve worked in advocacy and mental health, serving underprivileged and underserved communities primarily the Latinx community. I support individuals from many walks of life, including those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, postpartum challenges, PTSD, multigenerational trauma, and relationship difficulties.

I believe in this simple recipe: the quality of our relationships impact our happiness and self-worth. As humans, we have an innate need for connection and belonging. During our work together, we will delve into underlying issues and patterns contributing to persistent unhappiness, which often precipitates substance use disorder (SUD). My own journey of recovery started in 2007, and I will bring my personal and professional experience to this relationship. I will be honest and walk through this process with you. I endeavor to cultivate a safe, nonjudgmental and collaborative environment conducive to self-expression, exploration, healing and problem-solving. I started working in this field as a Primary Counselor/Therapist at San Quentin State Prison. I continued my career at residential treatment centers such as Serenity Knolls and Bayside Marin. My professional journey in inpatient/outpatient treatment facilities for substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders dates back to 2018, supplemented by completing Drug and Alcohol Abuse Studies at UC Berkeley. As a Marriage and Family Therapist in California, I have over 7 years of experience working in mental health, where I have collaboratively worked with people struggling with PTSD, co-occurring disorders, SUDs, anxiety, depression, and relational issues, among others. I currently work at Foundations, an Intensive Outpatient Program in San Francisco and see clients virtually in my private practice. “Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, need, or should do it alone.”Lisa Olivera

I'm Sheldon like the TV show! (Big Bang Theory). I help analytical high-achieving adults who feel stuck in patterns of anxiety and depression untangle their inner world and reconnect with their deeper self-using insight-driven therapy, dream exploration, and a creative lens that helps them uncover what's been buried beneath the surface. Do you often say, "I'm successful on the outside but exhausted and anxious inside," "overthinking everything, but still feeling stuck," or being in a "constant sense of restlessness or dissatisfaction," or being a person who "struggles to access or name emotions clearly." I help clients have greater awareness and emotional clarity and begin to feel grounded, self-trusting and more internally connected. I hope to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms through deeper insight and ability to recognize and break unconscious patterns. I help clients discover meaning through creative exploration, and dream work. I want clients to increase their confidence in navigating relationships and decisions and moving from analysis paralysis to self-acceptance and expression. My areas of expertise are in Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Mental Illness, Risk Assessment, Trauma, PTSD and Substance Abuse Disorders.

I often say, “Our toolboxes need to be big—because life requires a lot of tools.” My goal is to help clients expand their toolkits so they feel more equipped and empowered in their daily lives.

Whole-Hearted Therapy Centered on Genuine Connection. Ever had therapy that feels like it drags on without any results? Research shows the Power of Connection drives roughly 60% of Therapeutic Success. My Compassionate Therapy Style focuses on Building Bridges of Trust and cultivating a meaningful connection with positive outcomes. So, how do you find the best therapist for you? That's a great question. And it's one that most people struggle with answering whether it's their first or umpteenth search. Is it the therapist him/herself, their personality, theoretical approach, or specialty? While all these factors are important, it shouldn't be your responsibility to find the best clinician; rather it's the clinician's responsibility to become the best therapist for you. I also have a particular interest in using holistic practices to help create great results for depression & anxiety disorders as well as trauma/PTSD and other mental/behavioral conditions. These include EFT Tapping, breathing/mindfulness/meditation, and Amino Acids, etc. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Addiction Counselor with nearly nine years of extensive professional experience in both mental health and addiction. Further, I have a personal background in overcoming addictions as well as several mental health and learning disabilities. Whether you're seeking help to overcome addiction, mental health conditions or career counseling, I've dedicated my professional life to becoming YOUR BEST clinician. Transform Your Mental Health Story: Break Free from disheartening therapy experiences with my Empathetic Approach. Ready for a change? Let’s connect for a video conference consultation. From the comfort of your own space, let’s start your journey towards a happier, healthier you!

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Trauma and PTSD?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Trauma and PTSD, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
