I am a therapist specializing in working with those who’ve experienced trauma all along the trauma spectrum, which includes everything from PTSD to Dissociative Disorders. I am one to just roll with whatever you bring to the table. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and also utilize other forms of treatment to help my clients meet their goals in treatment. When people see me, I consider it a partnership, and we work together to figure out what is going to be most helpful for you. I do not do one-size-fits-all therapy. Some common types of therapy I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, Strengths-based Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy. I’m a first-generation, Vietnamese, transgender, and queer therapist who brings both professional training and lived experience to the work. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. In my practice, I often draw from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process trauma and experiences in a way that feels restorative. EMDR supports the brain’s natural healing by using bilateral stimulation—like eye or auditory movements —to reprocess memories and reduce their emotional intensity. I also use Narrative Therapy, which invites clients to explore the stories they’ve been told or have come to believe about themselves. Together, we uncover how those stories were shaped—by culture, relationships, systems, or past experiences—and work toward reclaiming narratives that center resilience, agency, and authenticity. I understand the importance of creating a space where clients feel seen, affirmed, and safe to show up as their full selves. Whether you’re navigating trauma, identity exploration, or simply seeking to reconnect with yourself, I’m here support you in that process with care, collaboration, and accountability. Are you looking for a mental health letter for gender-affirming surgery? I write those! Feel free to reach out for short-term therapy services to complete the letter assessment process with me. My practice uses old fashioned, human-generated tools and information methodically accumulated over years of community and evidenced based research. I do not use AI programs at any point in the therapeutic process. *I am not currently accepting family, couples, or group counseling inquiries* *My evening appointment spots are full* *Pls inquire about my reduced rate spots at $150/hr*

I hear you. You've been going through the motions, avoiding pain, sometimes barely hanging on, and trying to live a "normal," happy life. But, your past keeps creeping up and interrupts your hopes and goals, negatively impacts your day to day life, and creates relationship struggles. A childhood trauma might be coming up or a more recent traumatic event, or maybe something you might not describe as traumatic is inserting itself into your well being. Either way, your life isn't going the way you want it to. I can help you heal from the past and move beyond the experiences that are wreaking havoc on you, so that you can have the life and future that you want and deserve. Reaching out to a therapist can feel scary, embarrassing, even shameful, but you're tired of not living. You are ready to move forward, beyond the pain, sadness, fear, and difficulty that has been in your life so far. It's time to reach out.

Greetings! I have relished working in this field for over 30 years and my practice has only gotten better over time--as I grow. Starting off my career in the field of Addiction Medicine assisting with patients embracing their own recovery over time. Through that lens my areas of expertise expanded: finding many people had other addictive/compulsive behaviors, mental health issues, childhood trauma, (including the impact of racism, sexism and homophobia). My patients have found psychoeducation incredibly useful. There is no question in my mind regarding the power of therapy can be an extraordinary avenue for healing, self-identity development and living more intentionally versus living by default. Together we will carve out the style that works for you. Many of the people I work with work a recovery program in AA (Alcholics Anonymous/NA etc.), ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families)--which has accelerated their healing and assisted immeasurably in our work together. Spirituality can be a wellspring of hope and vitality in our work together. Learning to treat oneself with gentleness, humor love and respect is the practice I hope to instill within my people over time. I learned for myself when starting my journey that all I needed to be was honest, openminded and willing (HOW) and it's working!

Hi! My name is Maisie Jacquez and I am an LCSW with 6 years experience working in both New Mexico and California. I have experience working with culturally diverse, high risk populations in rural areas. With little resources as a therapist, you learn to navigate a wide range of issues in your client population. I have been trained to meet client's needs within that population. Moving from that rural area to California as a military spouse has subjected me to a different population to work with. So, whether it is navigating grief, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, work stressors, or major life transitions, I am passionate about helping. My goal is to make my clients as comfortable and safe as possible while healing things that tend to compromise every day functioning. I value my therapeutic relationship with my clients and always want them to feel heard and valued. When my clients are discharged it is always with the intention of knowing I have helped to provide them with the tools they need to navigate life's obstacles in the best way possible. I always want them to feel as though they have learned or gained something from our sessions. My favorite part in my line of work is meeting new people from all different walks of life and learning how their unique characteristics can become their strongest assets.

Hello there! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT). My approach is rooted in curiosity, kindness, and compassion, aiming to create a nurturing environment where you can openly express yourself. My ultimate aim is to equip clients with practical, yet powerful skills and tools that empower them to live life with confidence, peace and trust. I offer a holistic, personalized approach that embraces body, mind, and spirit. I am certified in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy, working with ketamine (KAP). I offer preparation and integration sessions for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. I am not a traditional talk therapist. I believe sharing our story is an essential part of the healing journey. We long to be seen, heard, and witnessed in our stories and if we want long-lasting change and transformation, we must be willing, ready, and feel safe to transform our cognitive narratives through feeling in the body.

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University. I also hold a master's in clinical social work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. My doctoral research explored how therapists integrate EMDR and Neurofeedback, which strengthened my expertise in supporting individuals living with PTSD and C-PTSD. I am certified in EMDR by EMDRIA and bring advanced training to help clients find healing, relief and their joy. My focus is on creating a collaborative, compassionate space where meaningful progress can happen. Outside of my professional work, I am a pet lover, dancer, and enjoy time with my family. These parts of my life keep me grounded and approachable, and remind me of the importance of balance, connection, and joy.

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
