Hi, my name is Abby. I recognize how difficult it can be to ask for help, so congrats on taking this first, brave step towards feeling better. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 8 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. I aim to provide clients a safe space to be their most authentic selves without fear of judgment. I believe we all have inherent strengths and capabilities, and I hope we can use our time together identifying how to maximize yours.
In your first session, you can expect for us to get to know each other a bit! To uncover and expand a bit on what motivated you to bravely reach out for help, and to identify what you're hoping to get out of our time together. In the first session, we may also start to develop measurable goals for treatment.
I prioritize trust and respect with everyone I work with. I value creating a space in which you can show up authentically and feel as if you've accomplished something. I use humor where appropriate (therapy doesn't have to always be heavy!). And I am direct; I won't just nod along passively to everything you say, but rather I will challenge you when needed and empower you to make real change.
I specialize in supporting life transitions, managing anxiety, treating trauma and PTSD, and building feelings of self-worth. My clients are ready to invest in themself. You may not know exactly how you got here, or what you need to do to get unstuck, but you want to feel better and you're ready to do the work.
I utilize EMDR within my practice as an evidence-based trauma intervention to reprocess memories and replace negative beliefs.
I utilize a narrative approach to help challenge and rewrite unhelpful, unkind, and untrue stories you tell yourself.
I utilize motivational interviewing within my practice to better understand your experiences and help move you through change.
I utilize a strengths-based approach within my practice to identify and reinforce your inherent skills and capabilities; empowering you to use these strengths to reach your goals.
I utilize CBT whenever thoughts need to be challenged and reframed.
