I am a licensed clinical social worker who can guide you in the process of becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be. I use empathic listening skills, humor, and reflective/challenging questions to help you discover the changes you can make to improve your life. I provide the support you need not only to make these changes, but to recognize, maintain, and celebrate the progress you achieve over time. Together, we will develop realistic goals and find solutions that can make a difference in your well-being. I specialize in working with people who are ready to make the changes they need to improve their lives. However, if you don’t know where to start, what to do, or how to do it, that's ok. Let's join forces to help you find the answers to those questions. My clients describe me as comforting, helpful, relatable, down-to-earth, funny, challenging and calm. They say I have a warm approach and am a good listener. My teenage daughter stated, “mom, you speak in Facebook (inspirational quotes)!” I have longer-term programs to help reduce the effects of anger, manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and process grief and loss. I also specialize in working with youth ages 10+ (male and female), utilizing my years of experience working at summer camps in my younger days. It’s been said that I “speak kid” (their style of language) and am dramatic which helps me develop rapport with young people quickly and effortless. Together, we can make the changes that you’re hoping to make in your life!

Craig Steckowski is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based out of California and serves clients in both California and Virginia. He served in the Marine Corps prior to attending Alliant University in Irvine, CA for his therapy Master’s degree. After school, Craig then went on to work in Orange County. He was an advocate with the court system for mental health treatment and rehabilitation from chemical dependency. He also spent some time working for an agency that provided support to the homeless population and later, in a community clinic in New Hampshire where he helped to create services that met the needs of the community. Each of these experiences helped to shape Craig’s philosophy toward therapy, which is that therapy should be a non-judgemental, welcoming space for his clients to be their unfiltered, authentic selves. “I just truly want therapy to be a place that you look forward to and value,” he wants clients to know. “It’s your space, and nothing you say, do, or experience is going to change my perception of you.” His main goal as a therapist is to connect with his clients and offer them a place of solid, consistent, and positive support that they can depend on. He prioritizes maintaining a low enough caseload that clients can maintain a regular therapy schedule with him. He also encourages his clients to reach out between sessions if need be. “If you need me to be your hype man and help you through something, I’ll be there.” In his free time, Craig focuses on doing things that help rejuvenate him which includes spending time outside and quality time with his wife. He also regularly seeks professional support from a trusted mentor in the field to ensure he is practicing mindfully and ethically.

I am accepting new clients either VIRTUAL/VIDEO or IN-PERSON for psychotherapy. I've worked in Mental Health since 1997. Sometimes we may need someone available for to process life experiences. As a therapist, I provide a safe place where you can be vulnerable about painful behaviors, thoughts, & feelings. Perhaps you're feeling sad, angry, anxious, confused, or emotionally paralyzed. If motivated, you can manage negative thoughts, change unhealthy behaviors, engaging in healthy relationships, or end destructive patterns. I also work with clients to address memories related to traumatic events. The type of therapy used to treat your needs, may be either long term psychodynamic psychotherapy, or short term treatment modalities such as CBT, MI, CPT, ACT, PE, DBT, or EFT (couples), depending upon what is appropriate. Psychotherapy requires a client commitment of time and effort in- and out- of sessions for those compelled to make life changes. I work with a wide range of individuals and issues.

This letter writing is effective for all forms of loss. Reading the letters aloud is very healing as it encourages acceptance, and permits moving on to build a life filled with love and laughter. I've dealt with my own grief, loss and growth by writing a book series, "The Adventures of the Angel Oleo," as well as "The Dog Bible for Humans - Advice from Dogs to Humans of All Ages." Sometimes ordinary psychotherapy just isn’t “it”. Most people who come into my practice come due to persistent sexual and emotional problems that regular psychotherapy analyzed, but did not effectively facilitate. Sometimes, “How does it make you feel?” Is simply too little and not sufficient for change. You are left feeling an inventory of your issues, but not much change. You will likely find me quite different to the above. I don’t fit the mold and this is intentional because traditional psychotherapy frustrates me and I need to bring about relief and real change. I am extroverted and high-energy. I am an active and verbose facilitator, and you come because you desire to do the hard work on yourself. It is my honor to serve. I help emotional/sexual/abuse traumas heal using bilateral stimulation known as tapping, and positive psychotherapy. We laugh together! I work with fathers as well. I teach men how to listen effectively, for conflict resolution and to learn how to validate your mate and yourself for deeper relaxation and communion as a pair. What people are saying: "She blew my mind! I feel so much better." "I should have done this years ago." "Now I have the mental tools to be effective. I have "proof of concept". This is all worth it." "This is rewarding to share; I can provide my kids with tools they can use growing up." "This has had such an impact on my life." "I feel Great!" "You are the best psychotherapist I have ever had, and I have seen plenty of them!"

We are more than conquerors! You already have the capability to make changes that help accomplish your goals, experience healing, and combat the most difficult symptoms. However, we were never meant to go it alone. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership—it is teamwork. It is joining forces with one another. One of the greatest attributes I can offer in this alliance is empathy. Non-judgmental exploration will afford the understanding necessary to determine what is hindering satisfaction. I am Kimberly Jones: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 10 years of experience in offering psychotherapy to all ages. My expertise is couple’s therapy encompassing marriage and relationships. You will be provided a safe space to bring your most complex matters as I am confident in supporting honest dialogue. In addition, mediation during difficult discussions and understanding the anatomy of an affair's impact on both partners can also be provided. I would assist in managing the threat of divorce, post-separation, and co-parenting. In the healing pursuit, individuals will experience neutrality, intimacy repair, trust building, improved communication, and conflict resolution. These are all skills necessary to strengthen the relationship and introduce a new way of seeing life together.

I have been playing and coaching basketball for years and, in the process, developed a passion for psychology and philosophy. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. I have completed one year of a master’s program with a focus on sports psychology. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I wanted to improve my communication, relate better to the people and clients I was working with, understand myself better, and adequately face personal issues and past traumatic events. I consequently developed an interest in mental health, emotional resilience, and intricate family dynamics that shape us as individuals. I became a believer that with the proper support and resources, people could find solutions and become active in authoring preferred narratives. Resourcefulness exists in all people. Additionally, I believe clients are best understood if we take time to reflect on relevant cultural and dominant societal factors to ensure treatment objectives and interventions are consistent with the attitudes and behaviors distinctive of a range of multicultural perspectives and backgrounds.

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Couples Counseling?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Couples Counseling, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
