I am a Clinical Social Worker and have been in the social work field for 23 years. I have worked in many different types of settings throughout my career and loved all of them. Many times I'm told "I don't know how you do what you do" and I always say, it's a gift, a calling and yes some of my jobs have been very difficult... however, I get to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my clients and this far exceeds the tough stuff, making it all worth every effort. My therapy background includes working for a homeless shelter and a transitional living facility for mentally ill both in New York. The remainder of my career is in Texas working for a federal prison for women, a school district for ages 3-18 to include home visits with parents, teaching parenting classes, Children's Advocacy Center for sexually and physically abused children and working with their families, along with the past two years online therapy for anyone in need.
Our initial session will be an intake of history and current reason for reaching out. I like to get to know my clients and want to give you time to share any information you feel comfortable sharing. However, if you are new to therapy or unsure what to say I do not want you to feel put on the spot and will do my best to make each session as comfortable as possible. I like my clients to know I recommend 2-3 sessions to get to know one another and make sure I'm a good fit for you. Honesty is the best policy in my opinion and let my clients know to please tell me if you feel the sessions are not helping so we can work together to make sure you get the best quality therapy available. My goal for all my patients is to bring healing, empowerment, restoration and education for future.
I feel my greatest strengths as a provider is my heart to help others. I love to educate as well. I have a lot of experience and want to share both knowledge and experience with others. My faith in God is my personal coping skills in managing and this keeps me strong for others.
I have worked with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, family conflict, marriage problems and much more.
Cognitive Behavioral therapy is an approach I've used throughout my career. How we think affects the way we behave and understanding this concept is the beginning. Throughout sessions we will work on individual needs and learn how to take control of negative thoughts and manage problems in our environment in a healthy way.
I have been a Christian most of my life. For those wanting to include faith in therapy I have a strong foundation and biblical knowledge to incorporate.
I have worked with Families throughout my career. From homeless shelters, federal prison, school districts, trauma related, etc.
If your marriage is on the verge of divorce or simply in a place of needing a mediator for small differences, I look forward to working with you in a non-biased, compassionate setting.
I will provide psychoeducation throughout my sessions to all patients. I feel psychoeducation is key to understanding mental health and finding true healing.
