Hello, I'm Carrie, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with seven years of experience helping adults navigate through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the many chllenges that life presents. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals in a variety of clinical settings, including substance use treatment, domestic violence services, intensive outpatient care, and community mental health. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are and provide compassionate, individualized care tailored to their unique circumstances. My approach to therapy integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Person-Centered Therapy, and trauma-informed care. Together, we'll explore how your experiences have shaped your current challenges, build practical coping skills, and work toward goals that align with your values and the life you want to create. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult season or are ready to begin a deeper healing journey, I'm committed to walking alongside you every step of the way.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating. It is completely normal to have questions or feel nervous about what to expect. During our first session, we'll talk about what brings you to counseling, explore the challenges or problems you're facing, and discuss what you hope to accomplish. My goal is for you to leave our first meeting feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of how we can work together toward your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients often tell me they feel comfortable opening up with me, and I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important foundations for meaningful change. One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a warm, welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I understand that beginning therapy can be difficult, and I strive to build a genuine, trusting relationship where you feel heard, respected, and never judged. My style is conversational and collaborative, allowing sessions to feel natural while still being purposeful and goal-oriented. I also believe that quality care extends beyond our time together. I dedicate time outside of sessions to reviewing notes, considering your progress, researching evidence-based interventions, and thoughtfully planning for future sessions. Every client is unique, and I work to tailor treatment to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Above all, I want my clients to know they have a therapist who is fully invested in their growth and committed to helping them achieve meaningful, lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My dream clients are older people over age 65 and people with serious mental illnesses. I like working with people who are grappling with faith based questions and existential matters. I also enjoy working with teenagers who are having problems navigating adolescence. My ideal client is ready to make big changes in their lives to see improvement. I look forward to working with individuals who are ready for that kind of change.

My treatment methods

Adlerian

I use Adlerian therapy to help me understand how your particular birth order and childhood has shaped your "life story". A "life story" is a story that you believe about your purpose and meaning in life. I help you evaluate the effectiveness of your "life story" and adjust it accordingly.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you better understand how your beliefs feed into your thoughts and feelings and shape your worldview. Together we evaluate the helpfulness and accuracy of your core beliefs, we modify the ones that are causing problems or suffering. There is an emphasis on mindfulness and behavioral activation. I will work with you to relax and learn how to take things one day at a time and how to accomplish goals.

Christian Counseling

I am a Christian. I am a counselor; and I can be both in this capacity. I love to listen to what God is doing in your life and am happy to join you on your spiritual journey to better understand yourself and your position in Christ, to identify and develop your spiritual gifts and help you develop some basic Christian centered coping skills.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I am a certified Cognitive Processing Therapist and I have 2 years of experience in working with survivors of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Sometimes, people hold certain memories that cause an extreme stress response. In this kind of therapy, you learn what you are believing and how it is impacting your healing journey in regards to recovery from the traumatic event. Our memories are the key to recovery, and they also serve as a key for understanding our pasts.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This type of therapy is strongly rooted in excellent research. When using DBT, I help you reduce suffering and show you ways to adapt to uncomfortable situations in a healthy way. You will learn how to regulate and control your emotions and as well as improve distress tolerance. I will also work with you about identifying and understanding your personal communication style and how it effects your relationships.

After talking with Carrie for a little while, I found her to be very concerned with my problems and was more than willing to help me through them. This was my initial session, so I was not sure what to expect. She gave the feeling of concern and caring so that I was very comfortable talking with her.
