As a therapist, I am deeply committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in a client-centered, collaborative approach, where the therapeutic relationship is a partnership. I meet clients as equals, respecting them as the experts in their own lives, and providing unconditional positive regard. I recognize that clients’ struggles are often shaped by social, cultural, and political forces like gender, race, and class. I take an intersectional approach, understanding how various aspects of identity intersect to create unique experiences. I focus on empowerment—helping clients reclaim their voice, challenge societal norms, and recognize their inner strength. My approach is eclectic and tailored to each client’s needs. I integrate methods like Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support healing, whether through trauma processing, emotional regulation, or shifting unhelpful thought patterns. I’m also trauma-informed, providing a safe space for clients to explore past experiences at their own pace. I value cultural humility and am committed to understanding the impact of cultural background on mental health. I strive to be inclusive, respecting each person’s unique worldview and lived experience. I see therapy as a strength-based process rather than a path to fixing someone. Clients are not broken but resilient individuals with the capacity to grow and heal. My goal is to support clients in reconnecting with their agency and personal power, empowering them to make choices that align with their true selves. Ultimately, I am an empathetic, compassionate therapist dedicated to the growth, healing, and empowerment of my clients, always working from a place of respect, authenticity, and social justice.

Hi there, my name’s Stacee and I’m a transgender therapist who specializes in work with adult LGBTQ+ clients. There are so many parts to our shared experience: Trauma that’s related to our families-of-origin. For many of us, our families were our first bullies. Grief from our losses of intimate partners, lovers, friends, family, and pets. Anxiety and perfectionism that comes with trying to prove our worth in the world. Spiritual trauma from histories with shame-based religious systems. History with abusive or exploitative relationships, whether bullying bosses, predatory ex-partners or family members. Sometimes, we allowed ourselves to be exploited if it meant we could matter to someone. Weird shaming dynamics that exist within our queer subcultures around body image, shape, and size; our gender behaviors; and even social factors like a decision to live sober. Legitimate fear for our own lives and the safety of our families that’s in response to government actions. Our histories can show up in complicated ways: intrusive thoughts and nightmares, panic and anxiety, compulsive behaviors that once soothed us but now are destructive, cycles of depression. Then we experience guilt and shame that comes with the belief that we should ‘just get over it,’ just as we’ve had to forgive and get over so many things. Yet, there are some things we can't just get over on our own. This is the subject of my self-help book, The Healing Otherness Handbook. I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can help you get your fabulous back, or maybe discover it for the first time.

Trauma hurts. It can be sudden, life-altering and overwhelming, or chronic, subtle and nearly unnoticeable, but either way it can change the way we think about others, the world, and unfortunately, ourselves. Dealing with the aftermath—changes in our relationships, lashing out toward self or others, feeling nothing and/or everything all at once—is sometimes as hard as the initial event, especially when society, friends and family and our own minds tell us to “just get over it.” Worse, sometimes we aren’t even sure where the trauma came from in the first place, leaving us confused and even feeling hopeless. If you could just “get over it,” you would, but sometimes the brain simply cannot process traumatic events without help, and this is why trauma therapy exists. :) I'm an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas. I've been in practice for nearly 15 years and have been doing EMDR therapy for 13 of those. I specialize in helping teens and adults process trauma of all kinds. My goal is to help my clients gain the skills needed to process and adapt to traumatic memories, and then allow them to do so in a safe environment. I teach them how to build boundaries and follow through, and to treat themselves with self-compassion rather than judgment and harsh expectations. Trauma doesn’t have to ruin (or run) your life. If you’re hurting, please know I’d be happy to help in any way I can.

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS! That is the key!! With 25 years of experience, much research, studying, and face to face experience living and working all over the world, I realized relationships with yourself and with others can make or break our contentment in life! But there are skills to learn to make it happen, skills such as self-awareness, ability to pay attention to the world around us and our own bodies (mindfulness), learning to grieve and let go while embracing change, learning the characteristics of a healthy relationship with others and with ourselves, and accessing our strengths while focusing on the beauty in life. I'd love to walk with you through this process to restore hope.

I have experience working with clients with issues such as: Depression, Anxiety, panic attacks, divorce, grief and loss, ODD, ADHD, Autism, sexual and physical abuse, crisis, childhood trauma, career challenges, life event changes, social skills, and self esteem. My specialty is working with adolescents and women specifically due to my professional background and personal experiences which I use to guide my practice. I am a expert in helping adolescents navigate the difficulties and challenges that come with transitioning into adulthood such as: identity formation, sexuality, family issues, peer pressure, and developing short and long term career goals. As a woman of color, I also have a special ability to connect, guide and support women struggling with various interpersonal and intrapersonal issues i.e self esteem, termination of a relationship, communication skills, career changes, sexism, intimate partner conflict or life’s obstacles due to systemic racism that may affect them in various aspects of their daily lives. My approach to therapy combines Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic/Person Centered counseling with a socially/ culturally competent and Trauma -Informed lens to help the client not only recognize their strengths, but also utilize existing support systems, develop new coping skills, effectively respond to crisis and empower the client/family/couple to recognize the solution to their problem already exist inside themselves. I am also a EMDR trained clinician. My personal mantra in counseling is “Change your thoughts and you change your world.” ~Norman Vincent Peale. I look forward to working with you

Since becoming a counselor, I have worked in a variety of community counseling settings. I have worked with clients from ages 3 through 80 and with individuals, couples, and families. With that breadth of experience, very little shocks or surprises me and I have gotten a pretty good sense of where the types of counseling that play to my strengths as a counselor overlap with the types of counseling that are helpful for my clients. This sense (along with learning about lots and lots of research into what helps people find and maintain mental health) has led to the following guiding principles that shape all the counseling I do: 1) The client is always in charge. I know a lot of things but you will always be the one who decides what you want to get out of counseling, how we work towards that goal, whether or not what we’re doing seems to be working, and when we’re done. 2) Change and health happen through relationships. No matter what you come in for, there are always relational implications of change and relational factors that contribute to whatever it is that you came to counseling to change. 3) Counseling should be efficient. Counseling has significant costs in time and money. I think the benefits far outweigh the costs but if I can give you the benefits while helping you save on the costs then I want to do that.

Hello, I have been a Counselor for 15 years and I love my work. I grew up loving working with animals, competing in sports, reading everything, and having a great curiosity for how nature and people worked. I have been blessed with many wonderful and loving people in my life; and know how much it means to experience kind and helpful people in hard times. I provide an organized and easy to follow process using EMDR to address the difficulties my clients are facing and help them achieve the outcomes they are looking for. I strive to be a calm and accepting presence to my clients as they tackle some of the biggest challenges in their life. I value so much the effort they are making and the how meaningful achieving their goals are to them and their loved ones; and do my very best to be an expert helped in their journey.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
