My name is Brytni Johnson. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) born and raised in Texas (always in and around "DFW”). I have been working with people: moms and dads; sons and daughters; brothers and sisters; even grandparents for as long as I can remember. I realized just over 12 years ago, I wanted to "help people." I wanted to become educated and trained; learn how to better explore and accentuate my natural skills, while also being able to understand and develop new skills to best assist my clients. In 2012, I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work. In 2016, I graduated with my Master of Social Work. Shortly after graduating, I obtained my LMSW licensure, and have been practicing in a licensed, professional environment for the past 7 years. After obtaining my license, it was then, my "toolbelt" (yes, toolbelt) gained its first tool. From there, I began working towards building my clinical knowledge in order to obtain my clinical license as a social worker. I obtained my LCSW licensure June 2022; shortly after completing over 3,000 clock hours and over 100 clinical supervision hours.
In our initial session, there will be introductions, questions that allow me to gain insight into your presenting problem and understand who you are as an individual. Building rapport is very important to me. Subsequent sessions will involve treatment planning/goal setting and intervention. I would love to help you learn coping skills, self-care techniques, and alternative ways to better aid you in having a healthier life. I tailor my methods to the individual, as each person presents a unique personality with individual needs. Together we can identify & nurture the personal change that will make your therapy successful.
I have experience in practice working with a very diverse population. My experience extends from youth/adolescents (12-17) and adults (18~65); mild to severe mental illness; many different races, ethnicities, and nationalities; different gender identities and sexual orientations (LGBTQ+); and cognitive, physical, and psychological disabilities. I also have experience working with youth/adolescents with Autism, ADHD, diagnosed/undiagnosed behavioral disorders, and some eating disorders. Although I have much experience with adults with depression, anxiety, anger, decreased self-esteem, grief, and some PTSD, I would like to become more knowledgeable and certified to treat adolescents with their symptoms and problematic behaviors. However, I will still continue to work with adults.
CBT was the original treatment modality to which I was exposed most. I use CBT most with: anxiety, depression, addiction (more common such as drugs/ETOH; Binge Eating Disorder ; some trauma-related concerns; and many others. I am working to expand my understanding, knowledge, and experience in: EMDR; DBT; Trauma-based interventions (including somatic yoga for trauma. As far as meditation and mindfulness, I am seeking to immerse myself into the yoga community, and learn the most for trauma treatment.
