Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is a space to exhale. We’ll start by getting to know you — not just your symptoms, but your story. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping might feel different in your life. You’re always in control of how much you share and at what pace. We’ll talk about: * What prompted you to seek therapy now * Relevant history (mental health, medical, relational, cultural, family patterns) * Current stressors and strengths * What therapy has looked like for you before (if applicable) * Your goals — even if they feel unclear or evolving At Elvive Psych, we approach therapy collaboratively and relationally. That means this is not an interrogation or a checklist — it’s a conversation. Our style integrates insight-oriented work with practical tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, executive functioning, and nervous system support. If helpful, we may begin offering gentle reflections or coping strategies in the first session. We’ll also discuss what working together could look like moving forward and answer any questions you have about the process. Most importantly, you can expect: * A nonjudgmental, culturally attuned space * Curiosity about your intersectional identities and lived experiences * Respect for your autonomy * A balance of compassion and accountability Therapy is not about “fixing” you. It’s about understanding patterns, building capacity, and supporting the beautiful, sometimes uncomfortable work of becoming.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

At Elvive Psychological Services, we're committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and take these issues very seriously in clinical work. Therapy integrates scientific methods, evidence-based practices, and the art of psychotherapy drawn from person-centered, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, humanistic/existential, inner child/psychodynamic, and acceptance and commitment therapy modalities to provide the best possible care.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets Elvive Psych apart is the depth and nuance we bring to understanding patterns — especially the ones that feel invisible but shape relationships, self-worth, productivity, and emotional life. We are trained clinicians, which means we think developmentally, systemically, and diagnostically — but we work relationally and human-to-human. Clients often share that they feel deeply seen and understood in ways they haven’t before. Our approach integrates: * Insight-oriented therapy to unpack conditioning, generational patterns, and attachment dynamics * Neurodivergence-affirming care for “neurospicy” brains (ADHD, autism, giftedness, twice-exceptionality) * Trauma-informed work that respects nervous system pacing * Practical tools for emotional regulation, executive functioning, and distress tolerance We specialize in working with high-functioning adults who look “fine” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck internally. Many of our clients are children of immigrants, first-generation professionals, caregivers, or individuals navigating intersectional identities. We balance compassion with clarity. Therapy with Elvive Psych is warm, but it is also active — we notice patterns, name them, and gently shift them. The result? Greater self-understanding. More regulated nervous systems. Healthier boundaries. And a more integrated sense of self. This is the work of becoming — not who you were told to be, but who you actually are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Ideal Clients Elvive Psych is best positioned to serve thoughtful, high-functioning adults who are ready to understand themselves more deeply — not just manage symptoms. Many of our clients appear successful and capable on the outside but feel internally overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or chronically self-critical. They may struggle with perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, or patterns in relationships they can’t seem to break. We often work with: * Children of immigrants and first-generation professionals navigating identity and generational expectations * Neurodivergent adults (ADHD, autism, giftedness, twice-exceptionality) seeking affirming, nuanced care * Individuals unpacking trauma, attachment wounds, or complex family dynamics * Caregivers, helpers, and high achievers who feel exhausted by invisible labor * Adults seeking diagnostic clarity alongside meaningful therapeutic work Our ideal clients are curious, reflective, and open to insight — even when the work feels uncomfortable. They want more than coping strategies; they want integration. They are ready to examine patterns, build emotional capacity, and create relationships and lives that feel aligned rather than performative. If you’re motivated for depth, accountability, and compassionate challenge, this work may be a strong fit.
