Hi there! I’m Dr. Tabitha Simpson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy should feel like a safe and supportive conversation. I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings and enjoy using an integrated care approach that looks at the whole person—mind, body, and environment. I’m especially passionate about maternal mental health, particularly in rural areas where support can be hard to find. My goal is to help women navigate the ups and downs of pregnancy, postpartum life, and all the transitions that come with motherhood. I’ve had the privilege of working with clients of all ages, from providing play therapy for children to supporting adults through life’s challenges. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative—I want you to feel comfortable, understood, and empowered every step of the way.

Hello! I’m Ryan. I earned my master’s degree in Counselor Education from The Ohio State University in 2022. Following graduation, I began working in Community Mental Health, where I spent three years in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. During that time, I had the privilege of working with a diverse range of children, adolescents, adults, and families. I also facilitated a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) support group, helping clients build emotional regulation skills, healthier relationships, and a deeper sense of self-awareness. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my two rescue dogs, practicing Muay Thai, and immersing myself in nature. I’m a firm believer in the value of slowing down and finding intention in this often chaotic, ever-changing world. As Viktor Frankl once said, “A man with a why can endure any how.” In today’s world of distraction, avoidance, and constant comparison, it’s easy to feel disconnected from what it truly means to live. Fear, doubt, and painful life experiences can cloud our path forward, leaving us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. As your therapist, I can do nothing to take away your pain; however, I vow to sit with you to endure it. I promise to do my best to assist you forthrightly, uncovering and fostering lasting resilience. I’ll offer a safe, compassionate space where we can work collaboratively to explore your story, uncover your strengths, and chart a course forward. Together, we’ll develop practical, meaningful strategies tailored to your unique experience. My commitment is to walk beside you with unwavering support as you pursue healing, growth, and clarity.

Kiersten DeFord, LISW-S : Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor Designation After receiving my masters in social work from Wright State University, I have had the privilege of walking alongside individuals for the past 8 years as they navigate both the heaviness, and hope life brings. Their challenges and the quiet transformations. Based in Dayton, I serve clients across Ohio through virtual therapy, and I’m passionate about creating a space that feels safe, kind, and human. My approach is deeply reflective and rooted in kindness. I believe therapy is less about “fixing” and more about creating space for discovery, healing, and growth. Together, we’ll explore the patterns, emotions, and stories that shape your life—at a pace that feels safe and honoring to you. My goal is to help you not only manage difficult seasons, but also cultivate deeper self-understanding, resilience, and compassion for yourself. I see therapy as a space where you don’t have to carry things alone. My role is to sit with you, listen deeply, and help you untangle the thoughts and feelings that may feel overwhelming. I’m not here to tell you who to be, but to walk alongside you as you figure out what feels right for your life. Clients often describe me as grounding, and compassionate, with an energy that makes it easier to open up. I strive to create a space where you can breathe, reflect, and feel truly heard—like talking with someone who cares about you and your story, and supports you while you reconnect with your strengths and move toward the life you want to create.

I take an integrative, holistic approach to therapy, emphasizing collaboration and authenticity in building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. With a Bachelor’s in Communication and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton, I’ve worked with children, adolescents, and adults in both youth day treatment and outpatient settings. My experience includes helping clients navigate trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, life transitions, peer and family relationship issues. I’m especially passionate about supporting those processing religious, racial, and sexual trauma, and I strive to create inclusive, affirming spaces for clients from the Neurodiverse, Black, and LGBTQIA+ communities. I incorporate creative psychoeducation to engage clients meaningfully and empower them toward growth and healing. Thank you for being here. I look forward to the opportunity to support you. Hi everyone! My name is Amy. Everyone experiences life differently, and at times, trying to figure out how to handle these experiences can become overwhelming. My goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where I can assist you in processing and gaining control of your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and lifestyle balance. I empower people to overcome the burden of anxiety. I am interested in working with teenagers and adults. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, behavioral issues, anger management, relationship problems, life transitions, stress management, and behavioral activation/motivation. In session, we will learn to identify how our thinking affects our feelings and actions. My role is to challenge you and teach you how to help yourself. My goal is to give you realistic tools to cope with stressors and form a healthy relationship with yourself and the people in your life. I have over twenty years of experience as a licensed social worker working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. I have worked in public schools, community agencies, psychiatric hospitals, and in outpatient therapy. I obtained my bachelors and masters degree in social work from the University of Akron and am a licensed clinical social worker with the State of Pennsylvania and am licensed in Ohio as well.

Hi, I’m Marie — a therapist who believes that change is always possible, no matter where you are in life. My goal is to help you feel better emotionally, think more clearly, and move toward a future that feels fulfilling and peaceful. In our sessions, we’ll work together to understand what’s been holding you back and find practical ways to move forward. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you notice how your thoughts affect your emotions and actions—and teach you tools to shift negative thinking. I also use a solution-focused approach, which means we’ll focus on your strengths, celebrate what’s working, and create small, realistic steps that bring real progress. I often work with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or major life changes—like adjusting after a loss, a new diagnosis, or changes that come with getting older. My approach is supportive and empowering. I want you to feel heard, encouraged, and equipped with the tools to handle life’s challenges with more confidence and hope.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Ohio rather than a city like Columbus?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Ohio.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I’m" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
