I believe that everyone has the tools they need to implement the changes they want. As a therapist, it is my job to help you access these tools through, providing new broader perspectives and understanding how contexts and perspectives may be limiting you. I practice under the theory that relationships work in systemic ways, meaning when one aspect of a relationship is not functioning as it should another aspect will suffer. Through collaborative discussion I will challenge you to broaden your perspective in relationships, allowing you to access your internal tools to implement the necessary changes. Sometimes life is just funny, during our sessions we will laugh, cry and we may even disagree all in an effort to reach our goals and or elevate symptoms. If you are willing to do the work together we can help you create change.

I place a high value on authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself and my clients as individuals, but also as a critical part of the therapeutic process (I also take advantage of the healing power of laughter whenever possible!). I aim to normalize and validate my clients’ experiences without judgment, and above all, to provide the most basic of human needs: to feel seen and heard. Hi! My name is Stephanie (Stephanie or Stevie is fine) and I have been providing therapy in NJ exclusively via telehealth for the last 3 years (prior to that, in person). If you have been struggling with symptoms of depression or anxiety, particularly if they are related to a traumatic experience, I would love the opportunity to work with you to reduce your mood- or anxiety-related symptoms, and to help you to experience a present that is not overshadowed or negatively impacted by situations and events from your past. I love working with women ages 20 to 30-something who are still in academia or just starting out in their careers, but also love working with women of any age. I frequently work with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with issues related to self-esteem/self-worth, but have treated clients with many different conditions, the most common of which are listed below. *My practice is focused primarily on treating adults who identify as female as well as being a welcoming space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I do not currently treat cisgender heterosexual males, children or adolescents. Visit my website for client feedback: www.of2mindstherapy.com

Do you often see patterns in your life that you would like to change ,yet still repeat them? Counseling sessions will provide the support and guidance to understand and release emotions that keep you stuck. Relationships are key, whether it be your relationship with yourself, your partner, family member or friends, you will be able to develop self awareness and understanding of the influence of family culture and dynamics. Over 30 years as a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings , with a wide spectrum of ages and cultures . This experience has deepened my respect for each individual's journey and the influence of their family beliefs. I help clients to acknowledge these beliefs and gradually transform and expand them to enhance rather than limit their lives. I have enjoyed working with children and adolescents and bring this experience with me , yet I am currently working primarily with adults which includes a special enjoyment to help couples to successfully transform limiting patterns and develop clear communication and listening skills. I have learned so much about life transitions through my work with trauma, hospice, death and dying, treatment foster care, eating disorders and liaison work with educational and community. These experience have strengthen my belief in human resiliency. All of the sessions are remote and I provide a phone call prior to beginning sessions where you will be able to ask questions to see if we are a good "fit" to work together.

“Together, we will work on strategies that address the root cause of difficulties. We have what we need inside us. Let’s use curiosity and compassion to ask the hard questions. Those answers are the gateway to resolution. Call me and let’s talk.” I believe there are no broken people. Decisions made during difficult, emotional times are influenced by unsettled parts. Through talk therapy, we can address past hurts in a safe and supportive therapeutic space free of judgment. Doing so will begin the healing process. The focus is to empower your quiet voice within to share your truth with first yourself and then others. My anchoring belief as a therapist- and as a person- is that therapy isn't about "being fixed," as if any of us are some kind of broken thing. To me, it’s about recovering from suffering, and connecting more deeply and authentically to yourself, allowing for your thoughts, feelings, desires and dreams. It can be difficult to begin a new therapy relationship and be vulnerable, especially when relationships have been harmful in the past. I think taking the risk anyway reflects an inherent pull toward repairing the old wounds that restrict our capacity to live freely and joyfully. I provide psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and relational psychotherapy. We’ll collaboratively explore and process the impact of the past on the present, as well as tackle current difficulties. Creative arts therapy and drama therapy approaches can also be integrated into the therapy process, based on client interest and need. My style is warm, nonjudgmental, playful, curious and real- I have very solid boundaries, but have learned how to navigate them while also being a very real person in the room. I love this work, and love being an agent of change in guiding folks to live the life they truly want to live, and feel more alive inside of it.

I am working toward certification in Beck Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. “Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique approach to psychotherapy. ART is unique because the ART Therapist guides the client to replace the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing. And this is done quickly, most often within one session! Once the negative images have been replaced by positive ones, the triggers will be gone.” I am licensed as am LMHC in RI, cash pay clients only in RI.

I have worked with individuals from 3 to over 60-years-old with a wide range of diagnoses, including Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Adjustment Disorders. I have also worked with people with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I can work with you on anger management techniques, anxiety coping strategies, strategies for managing depression and stress, behavioral management strategies, and psychoeducation about diagnoses. If you prefer, we can just talk and gain some insight and self-awareness. I will try to understand, and I know that coming to therapy is not easy. I am here for you and you are not alone.

Are you experiencing a life transition, like navigating college, adjusting to parenthood, aging, or significant medical changes? I specialize in supporting clients during times of transition to help them cope with the anxiety, depression, and grief that often accompanies these changes. Together, we will create a safe space where you can focus on yourself. You will feel empowered through the transformative therapy process, allowing you to adjust to whatever life transitions you are dealing with. In this space, you will grow with a practitioner who prides herself on being fully present, compassionate, and empathetic. We will work together to build upon your strengths and resilience to overcome past wounds and challenges and help you love and fully accept yourself. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, I practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I have worked with adults of all ages. My clients are often struggling with family conflicts, anxiety, depression, being a college student, loss of independence, significant health changes, cancer diagnosis, adjustment issues, caregiver stress/burnout, life transitions, grief/loss, women’s issues, communication, setting healthy boundaries and relationships. As a mother of two young children, I understand how challenging it can be to juggle it all as a caregiver. As a cancer survivor, I know how heavy and lonely unexpected life changes can feel. These experiences have only strengthened my therapeutic practice to better serve and connect with future clients like you.

I’m delighted to see that you have taken a step towards investing in You! I will challenge you to think outside of the box. My priorities in therapy are helping clients build awareness around negative thoughts and finding the drive to build skills needed to support change. I pride myself on being empathetic, authentic, and open. I will consider your life experiences, cultural background, and values to meet you where you are. My goal is to create the most positive therapeutic relationship and open atmosphere. I am an Army Veteran, and I have a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am also a certified transformation and life coach that empowers individuals to make and sustain positive life changes. I help individuals who are struggling with different aspects of their lives. As a clinician, I work with individuals who are seeking mental health care for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, individuals who may have a lack of motivation, needing guidance towards self-care, and ways to become a better person in general. The motivation to begin a private practice came from years of working with many different individuals in mental health and realizing that there is not a ‘one fits all’ scenario to helping people. I wanted to reach more people in a more authentic manner.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and certified psychanalyst with certified CBT training as well and a Ph.D in an allied field. I had taught at UCLA, USC, and Antioch Universities and I was asked to try to give and develop a college program at the California Institution for Women, at the time, the only facility for female felons in the state. Shortly, I realized I needed clinical training and went back to school specializing in children and families. Later I moved to NYC to attend The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, an affiliate of New York University. I did one training for adults (5 years) and 3 of the 4 years for the child and adolescent track. I have worked in clinics as well as private practice in both New York and CT. I hope I may be of service.
