Your life is changing and you’re not sure why you’re not handling it better. In my work with clients, I’ve seen that even good changes can make usually well-adjusted people struggle with day-to-day stress that didn’t seem to be a challenge in the past. I’ve worked with people who struggle with communicating emotions, prioritizing themselves, or feeling like their best is not good enough. If you feel like you can identify with those experiences and are not sure how to change things, I’d love to work with you.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California and have been licensed for about 10 years now. I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in Anthropology in 2004. I also received my Masters in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago in 2005. Finally, I received my Masters degree from the University of Chicago in 2012 in Social Work with a clinical concentration. My professors used to tease me and call me the "thermometer" because I had so many degrees. I actually love learning (I do not love studying) and am a true "book worm." I have piles and piles of books scattered in every nook and cranny. I also built my own telescope when I was in high school. I have seen several stars (Arcturus and Vega) and Neptune through high powered telescopes which were jaw droppingly beautiful. I have also done walk on roles in two professional Shakespeare productions (Henry VI, part 1 and 2) at the Old Globe at Balboa Park and the experience was amazing. Highly recommend.

Therapy can feel uncertain or even overwhelming — and that's completely normal. I use practical, straightforward tools to help you understand how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. More importantly, I help you see the strengths you already have — because you have them, even if no one has pointed them out lately. I believe every person deserves to be heard without judgment. Whatever brought you here, my goal is to help you find a way forward that works for you.

As a nationally-certified, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I have extensive experience working with clients dealing with mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD and/or trauma-related symptoms, as well as life transitions. Coupled with my background in coaching, I will engage you in two ways: 1) a look back at the conditions which contributed to your current distress and 2) a look forward to define how you want to shape your future. This involves creating a specific vision of your desired outcome and a plan to achieve it. I wholeheartedly believe in the change process and, while difficult, it can lead to a more peaceful, satisfying and productive future. I am bilingual, bi-literate and bi-cultural (English-Spanish) and have worked with diverse populations both in the United States and abroad for the last thirty years. This has allowed me to develop a high level of attunement to the needs and challenges that people may face based on their diverse and unique backgrounds. I work with teenagers, adults, people from diverse backgrounds, first responders, healthcare providers and business professionals. I am a firm believer in people's ability to identify solutions to the problems they are facing. What you will experience with me is an atmosphere of acceptance, empathy and a non-judgmental approach. Additionally, I will encourage you to define goals for yourself and work towards achieving and/or exceeding them. In support of therapeutic work, I incorporate my background as a mixed media artist. I believe in the healing power of the creative process and incorporate some form of Expressive Arts (dialogue, writing, visual arts and/or music), as clinically appropriate. In workshops that I facilitate, I also utilize Expressive Arts prompts to support individual and group processes.

Personal discovery and growth are one of life's greatest challenges but also provide one of life's greatest rewards. I have been a Marriage Family Therapist for the past 12 years. Empathy, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard are key to establishing that trust. I specialize in anxiety, depression, coping skills, relationship issues, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and women's issues, which are a few symptoms I specialize in. During my time as a therapist, I've worked with children, adolescents and adults. If you’re someone who carries a lot, who shows up for work, family, partnerships, motherhood, and community with strength and competence…but yet struggles with anxiety, self-doubt, boundary guilt, people-pleasing, overthinking, or a quiet sense of disconnection from yourself, please know that you are not alone. Many women appear composed while internally feeling exhausted or unseen. Often, the ways you cope in your roles (e.g. over-functioning, staying hyper-independent, avoiding conflict, or constantly striving) were shaped by childhood or traumatic experiences that once helped you survive. Since 2007, I’ve worked with women who want to understand how early attachment wounds and trauma histories continue to shape their current relationships, work, motherhood, and sense of self-worth. Therapy becomes a place to make sense of your patterns, and gently shift what no longer serves you. I work primarily with women, particularly women of color (BIPOC), and my approach is integrative, grounded in advanced training in: • EMDR • Internal Family Systems • Brainspotting (beginning March 2026) • Sensorimotor & Body-Oriented Psychotherapy • Havening Techniques • Yoga Therapy • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) • Mindfulness-Based CBT This allows our work to include trauma processing, nervous system regulation, practical tools, relational exploration, and deeper meaning-making which including spirituality through a grounded, non-religious lens. The goal is integration: helping you feel more aligned, steady, and connected to yourself over time. If this resonates, I invite you to continue exploring my profile to learn more about my approach. You’re also welcome to visit my professional Instagram account (@Rosashetty) to get a sense of my values and personality.
