These can be big or small, this is your life and your time, I am here to help you figure out what isn't working quite right. I am a straight-forward but empathic therapist, who also appreciates the same from her clients. I also believe in the social work mission of starting where the client is, so sessions are based upon that analogy. I have experience in many areas, including hospital, foster care, group homes, forensics, Veterans, home health, etc. I received my Masters of Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve Univerity, and my Doctorate of Psychology from California Southern University. Although I have a doctorate degree, my scope of practice does not fall under psychological testing, pharmacological practices, nor community services. I only do individual therapy so if you need case management (such as letters), family/couples therapy, psychologicial testing, or medication, please refer to those licensed or practicing in those areas.

Starting therapy can feel empowering, confusing, or even intimidating—and it’s worth taking a moment to recognize the courage it takes to take this first step toward caring for your mental health. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where you can explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-care, and more. My goal is to help you strengthen communication and boundaries with yourself and others so that you can improve your quality of life and move toward the future you envision. Therapy is not just about overcoming obstacles—it’s also about personal growth. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and identify strategies to help you move toward them, whether that means change over the next month, six months, or a year. You’ll leave our sessions with practical insights and “next steps” you can put into action right away. I believe life’s purpose isn’t simply to be happy, but to find meaning—and within that meaning, joy emerges. While the journey isn’t always easy, it can be transformative. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Professional, Internationally Certified Drug Counselor, and Behavior Analyst. I take a strength-based approach, helping you use your unique abilities to address challenges. Hello! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, proudly based in Oakland, California. In 2017, I received my Master's in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. I support folks 18+ in navigating trauma and self worth. As a Lebanese-American therapist, I aim to work with folks who are seeking the opportunity to re-examine their cultural storyline and get creative in unpacking their identity. Together, let’s challenge societal expectations and strive to center your authentic self. A little about me, personally: I identify as an artist and child of the earth, as diaspora has scattered my ancestors across the Arab world, Africa, Europe, and North America. I am fascinated by intersectionality and the powerful ways that resilience shapes our multi-hyphenate individuality. It is important that I take care of myself so that I can be a pillar of support to my clients. The way that I release painful feelings is by channeling them into creative projects. I also work hard to stay connected to my body and my surroundings. Whether it’s through writing, building clay sculptures, beading, or making collages, self-expression is a healing practice. I encourage everyone to play a little bit!

We are shaped by so much more than our individual experiences. Our families, relationships, culture, identities, communities, and the systems around us all influence how we learn to navigate the world. And sometimes, how we lose connection with ourselves along the way. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I want to understand not only what brings you to therapy, but what you’ve been carrying, what has shaped you, and what matters most to you. Together, we can slow down, make sense of your experiences, explore the patterns that may no longer serve you, and create space for something different. I work with youth, adults, and families navigating life transitions, relationships and family dynamics, emotional challenges, identity, and the impact of difficult or systemic experiences. As a second-generation Filipina-American and longtime mental health professional, I bring a culturally responsive and relational lens to my work, recognizing that healing rarely happens in isolation. Therapy with me is a space to be human. You don’t have to arrive with everything figured out, have the right words, or know exactly where to begin. My role is to meet you where you are, help you better understand yourself and your relationships, and support you in moving toward a life that feels more connected, intentional, and your own.

A little about me: I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who, come to find out, originally got into this field largely to figure myself out. If you’ve never heard that from a therapist before, it’s actually a pretty common thread among us, we often subconsciously step into healing others as a way to find healing within ourselves. About 22 years ago, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, and roughly 15 years ago, I received an OCD diagnosis. Having these two conditions overlap made things incredibly challenging throughout much of my life and if I’m being completely honest, navigating that balance can still have its moments today. But there’s something powerful about a wounded healer: we tend to want more for ourselves and for the people we serve than just standard, status-quo talk therapy. We dig deeper because we need real answers on a personal level, and once we find what works, we want to share it with the world.

With over 20 yrs experience in the mental health field, I believe it shouldn't be so complicated to live outside of the survival-mode loop. Now more than ever, people have been bombarded with a lot of negative and fear-driving events that only add to their individual life stressors. Let's stop the overflow of stress together. I take a "make it make sense approach" and between laughter and even some tears, I enjoy helping my clients create a new path that may have once seemed impossible. From personal to professional thriving, I get exciting seeing you enter uncharted territory that lasts a life-time.

Trauma can hurt long after the painful events are over. It creeps into our relationships and makes it hard to love and trust others. Often, even more painfully, it makes it hard to love and trust ourselves. Often we try to ignore it, avoid it, try to forget it, but the hurt and memories always seem to come back. Maybe you find it hard to trust others, unsure if they are safe. Maybe you notice you are a "people pleaser", worried about making others happy but not happy yourself. If people in your life have hurt you, I want you to know that you are not alone, and healing is possible. As a trauma therapist, I will help you connect how the story of your past echoes into your present. I will support you in identifying the hangups that get you stuck and help you to get a foothold in your life. As you heal from your past and harmful coping, I will support you with taking control of your life and moving towards the goals you've hoped for. I have the best job in the world. It's an incredible experience to connect to people, many whom have never been able to safely share about themselves, and help them feel heard, validated, and supported. Starting therapy can be nerve-wracking, but if you are interested, or even curious, I'd be happy to work with you.

My name is Ashley and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated with my Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2021 but have been working in the field as a Clinical Therapist since 2020. I genuinely enjoy working with many different people, but I especially love individual therapy with clients who are a little neurospicy like me, parents and caregivers who feel burned out or stretched too thin, and people trying to heal from trauma or unhealthy relationship patterns. I’m very trauma-informed and values-oriented in my work. I like helping clients understand the “why” behind their emotions, behaviors, and patterns while also figuring out what kind of life and relationships actually feel aligned with who they are. I often work with ADHD, anxiety, attachment and relationship concerns, caregiver burnout, life transitions, and parents of children with special needs or higher support needs. I know therapy is not about having everything figured out. Sometimes it’s about finally having a place where you don’t have to perform, hold everything together, or explain why you’re exhausted. I try to bring warmth, honesty, humor when appropriate, and practical tools into the room while still giving you space to process at your own pace.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Yes! If you use Medicare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Medicare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
