Hello, I am Guadalupe T. Rios, LCSW, licensed in California with professional work experience of 25 years. I have experience in helping clients in coping with childhood/adult trauma, grief and loss, intimate partner violence, military trauma, addictions, racism and work related stress.

First session

I like to introduce myself and share my counseling style with my clients. I like to suggest journaling, goal setting, letter writing and reading materials about the topic we are discussing. I promote self care by what the client feels is best for them.

Strengths

I am engage with my clients in developing our treatment approach, direction. I am supportive, kind in allowing the client to make the decision of what they need in therapy.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT in therapy by developing goals and behavioral changes with the client while providing support, check ins and restructuring of behaviors as needed.

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing to allow the client to consider their beliefs, abilities and what has worked form them min the past. I also offer what has worked for other clients.

Psychoanalytic

I use psychoanalytic therapy in exploring a client's past childhood trauma and family origins.
