Life can be full of uncertainty, disappointment, loss, and unanswered questions. At times it may seem no one can possibly understand or help us through a difficult or painful situation. We may even question how the past, present, and future can be simultaneously daunting. Yes, painful life experiences can seem never-ending, but I want you to know there is hope. The hurts of life do not have to leave a permanent scar on your mind, body, or soul. I have found therapy to be an effective tool in healing the deepest of wounds. You are not defined by the wound, but the healing. For nearly a decade, I have served many facing marital, familial and parental distress, drug/alcohol addiction, challenging mental health diagnoses, trauma, and various cancer types. I take great pride in providing therapeutic services and advocating for students with school staff. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and possess a Nutrition for Mental Health certification. Take heart and take joy for there is nothing you cannot overcome.

Corning, CA - Accepting clients in CA

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Greetings, and welcome to our safe space. I am a licensed clinical social worker that specializes in treating trauma using EMDR, integrative medicine, and other modalities. My main goal in therapy is to help you reconnect to yourself by identifying and processing the root cause of all of your present-day challenges. I offer EMDR and Individual Psychotherapy Services via telehealth in California. Each one of us is part of a bigger collective and we are responsible for constantly striving to mature and progress on an emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual level. As a result of these beliefs, I utilize a humanistic approach (striving to help people uncover, address, reprocess, and heal from their trauma to meet their highest protentional); while seeing healing through a holistic lens (working to help individuals heal by reconnecting mind, body and spirit). We curse, we cry, we laugh, we take off our masks and honor our genuine authentic selves to heal from our trauma. *IT IS IMPERATIVE BOTH CLIENT AND CLINICIAN AGREE THAT THE THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP IS A GOOD FIT, AND PARTICULAR CRITERIA FOR RECEIVING SPECIALITY TRAUMA SERVICES (EMDR) ARE MET, THUS ALTHOUGH YOU MAY SCHEDULE YOURSELF FOR AN APPOINTMENT, THE APPOINTMENT WILL ONLY BE CONFIRMED AFTER THE COMPLETION OF A FREE 15-MINUTE CONSULTATION. Selma, CA - Accepting clients in CA

I was born and raised in the greater Fresno and attended CSU-Fresno for my undergraduate work in Criminology and my Master’s in Counseling-Marriage and Family Therapy. My clinical orientation is a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), client-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused therapeutic Modalities. I have extensive training and experience in working with people struggling with the criminal justice system (in and out of the legal system), post-traumatic stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety and Depression disorders, as well as with people seeking relief from addictive behaviors. I have worked for over 24 years in public service/various community mental health delivery systems. I thoroughly value meeting and forming therapeutic relationships with new patients and assisting the patient in discovering their ability to lead a life they want to live. I honor the time spent in session, as it is a time where hearts bare the pain, minds seek the “why?”, and bodies reflect the joy or sorrow of their memories.

Often, our current struggles signify deeper wounds that, when nurtured, can bring profound healing and empowerment. I believe every individual has inherent purpose and value and my goal is to help you align with yours—whether through clarifying values, making behavioral changes, or shifting thought patterns. My approach is strengths-based and nonjudgmental. I understand that healing is a deeply personal journey, and I work collaboratively with you to ensure that you feel understood and supported. I provide tools to help you embrace a deeper understanding of yourself, strengthen your coping mechanisms, improve your mood, and thrive with increased daily functioning, self-efficacy, self-esteem, self-awareness, and authentic self-expression. I believe there is a better way. Working with a psychotherapist who can deeply connect with where you are on your healing journey can be transformative. Transformation might look like addressing symptoms, resolving a problem, or seeking something more. By guiding you to deeper insights and clearer understandings, together, we are better able to confront the barriers that may be holding you back from the life you want to live.

I want to work with you if you are between the ages of 25 and 55 and struggle with anxious attachment, people pleasing, setting boundaries, feeling triggered, anger, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, parenting issues, and ADD/ ADHD. These symptoms and attachment style are often related to each other and often related to similar childhood experiences of inconstant or abusive/neglectful caregivers. (ADD and ADHD is not cause by caregivers, however, when it goes undiagnosed in children, there is s strong correlation to symptoms described above)
