About me

With nine years of psychotherapy experience, I’m passionate about helping people heal from trauma, manage anxiety and depression, and build more confident, fulfilling futures. My career has included work in day centers for adults with severe mental illness, crisis shelters for youth, and community mental health services. For the past year and a half, I’ve been privileged to offer focused, personalized care in private practice. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and actively working toward certification. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based method that helps people process and release the emotional charge of distressing memories, allowing them to feel more at peace in the present. I use EMDR to support clients in reducing emotional overwhelm, strengthening resilience, and creating lasting change. For clients not yet ready for trauma reprocessing, I incorporate resourcing and stabilization techniques to build coping skills and emotional regulation. While EMDR is a central part of my work, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, and other evidence-based methods to ensure each session is tailored to your needs. My approach is flexible and collaborative—we adapt our work based on what feels most supportive for you in the moment. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and low self-worth. My experience includes eight years in community mental health and over two years working in a youth shelter, guiding teens through family conflict, instability, and major life transitions. At the heart of my practice is a safe, non-judgmental environment where your voice matters. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working together toward meaningful, sustainable progress—whether that means processing the past, feeling more grounded in the present, or moving forward with confidence.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my priority is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. You’re welcome to bring up anything that feels important, whether it’s specific concerns, past experiences, or questions about therapy. I’ll guide our conversation with questions to better understand your history, current challenges, support system, and what you’d like to accomplish in therapy. Together, we’ll begin shaping goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you. If EMDR might be a fit for your needs, I’ll explain how it works and answer any questions so you can make an informed choice about incorporating it into your treatment. By the end of our first session, you’ll have a sense of how we can work together and the next steps in your healing process.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My work is shaped by years of supporting clients through some of life’s most challenging circumstances, including homelessness, addiction, and involuntary hospitalizations. These experiences have strengthened my patience, deepened my empathy, and taught me how to hold space for difficult conversations with both compassion and directness. I know how to approach sensitive topics in a way that feels safe, while also helping clients move forward at a pace they can handle. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am actively working toward certification. I’m passionate about offering this powerful, evidence-based therapy because I’ve seen how it can help clients process painful experiences, reduce emotional overwhelm, and experience meaningful relief. Integrating EMDR with other therapeutic approaches allows me to create a customized plan that supports each client’s unique healing journey. Above all, I’m committed to ongoing learning and growth as a clinician, ensuring that the care I provide is both current and deeply effective.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with teens and adults who feel ready to create meaningful change, whether that means finding relief from past experiences, improving emotional balance, or feeling more confident in daily life. Many of my clients are navigating major life transitions, processing unresolved memories, or seeking tools to manage stress and anxiety more effectively. Clients who benefit most from our work are open to exploring new perspectives, willing to actively engage in the therapeutic process, and value a tailored, collaborative approach. Together, we focus on what matters most to you—whether that’s regaining a sense of control, deepening self-understanding, or building resilience for the future.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR therapy can be a life-changing way to release the emotional weight of past experiences and feel more present, confident, and at peace. I’m trained in EMDR and actively working toward certification, with extensive experience guiding clients through this process in a safe, supportive, and structured way. My focus is on helping people move through trauma, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, and low self-worth so they can reclaim the life they want to live. While EMDR can be highly effective for a wide range of concerns, I want to be transparent that I am not yet equipped to treat severe dissociative symptoms that can occur in some cases. If you’re unsure whether EMDR is right for you, I offer consultations to explore your needs and determine if we’re a good fit.

Eclectic

One of the advantages of working with a private practice therapist is the flexibility to focus entirely on what works best for you—without the rigid protocols or limitations that can sometimes come with insurance-driven care. Over the course of my career, I’ve trained in and practiced multiple therapeutic modalities, each with its own strengths. In our sessions, I draw from this range of approaches—whether that’s EMDR, CBT, mindfulness-based techniques, or other evidence-based methods—to create a plan that’s entirely tailored to your needs in the moment. This means our work together can adapt as your goals, challenges, and life circumstances evolve, ensuring you receive the most effective and personalized care possible.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely researched and effective approaches in mental health care, and it was a key focus of my graduate training. Rather than following a rigid protocol, I integrate CBT principles flexibly, using them to help clients uncover the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In our work together, we’ll identify patterns that may be holding you back and create practical, realistic strategies to help you reach your goals. This process is always collaborative—tailored to your personality, values, and life circumstances—so that the changes you make feel both meaningful and sustainable.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is a practice I use in my own life, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be in helping people feel less overwhelmed by their thoughts and more connected to the present moment. In our sessions, I weave mindfulness into the work by guiding clients through grounding techniques, such as focused breathing, and by teaching simple, practical skills they can use in daily life. These tools can help reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and bring a greater sense of calm and clarity—making them an empowering addition to any therapeutic approach we use together.
