I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in Indiana, Wisconsin, and California. I have been practicing for 6+ years. I have worked with clients of all ages and who are struggling with a wide range of problems. I have worked with domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, eating disorders, self harm, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and more. My approach is warm and inviting. I believe in treating each individual with respect. I also believe each individual I see has the ability to change and get well. My stance as a therapist is one of being a coach or a guide. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I am also fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Reaching out for help takes courage and bravery. If you are ready to begin taking steps towards a happier and more fulfilling life, I am here to help. I look forward to working with you!
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions to get to know one another a little better. I will inform you of my credentials and verify that you reside in a state I am licensed in. I will review informed consent, limits of confidentiality, payment, telehealth guidelines, and how sessions are typically structured. I will begin gathering data on your personal history and the current issues you are experiencing in order for me to develop a holistic and comprehensive picture of you. This information will help me be in a position to help you to the best of my ability. The history gathering can take up to two sessions, after which we will work together to develop your treatment plan. The initial sessions are also a time for you to get to know me and decide if I am the best fit for your needs. Not every therapist is going to click with every client and that's okay! My goal is to see people heal and if that means they need to see a different therapist other than me, that's what we'll do. In order for a successful first session with me, I expect Grow's intake paperwork to be completed as well as the informed consent I will send to you via the patient portal you set up with Grow. If this paperwork is not completed by the day of your first session, I will cancel your appointment and you will be charged my late cancellation fee. Once your paperwork is completed, you would be free to reschedule your intake appointment.
I feel my biggest strength lies in meeting people where they are and addressing what the client wants to address. I won't ever tell you what you need to work on in therapy. I will provide suggestions based on information you provide me, but ultimately, what we work on is your choice.
I most enjoy working with clients who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. I find that many of the problems and individual experiences, can be traced to trauma. By directly addressing the trauma, the root, clients often find that present day issues are resolved.
I am a fully trained EMDR therapist. I utilize this modality with clients who have experienced trauma.
I am a fully trained DBT therapist. I utilize this modality with almost all of my clients as I have seen benefits with most individuals. This modality is especially beneficial for clients who are experiencing depression or have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
