Hello. Welcome to my page. I am Melissa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, Virginia and Vermont. I have been a therapist for over 12 years. I specialize in short term, solution focused therapy for those who want to see their lives moving in a direction where they feel more at ease in a matter of weeks.
Just imagine your life several weeks ahead- You're managing problems better, your mood has improved and your relationship with others is better. You're relieved and your life has a healthier balance. My goal is to support you through this chapter of your life.
Through our sessions, I will help you tap into your internal resources to help you work through your current situation. You will walk away with tools that you can utilize now, and also in the future, to overcome challenges.
Whether you are feeling alone, stuck or lost, I’d love to work along your side in creating a path toward feeling and doing better. Picture yourself decreasing those feelings of stress, sadness, worry, and/or exhaustion that have come due to life's challenges. I'm successful in helping clients in issues with transitional and uncertain times, workplace and career dissatisfaction, health, parenting, relationships, caretaking of elderly, severely ill or disabled family member and grief
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for those stuck on the problem. ACT helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.
I used Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for individuals who have only a limited amount of time to improve their situation. SFBT is an approach based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. I ask you to imagine and discuss a possible world where problems are removed and your issues are addressed. We build a path of improvement from your vision.
With DBT, we'll introduce ways to cope with your dificulties. DBT helps you 1) Understand and accept your difficult feelings 2) Learn skills to manage these feelings by learning different stress relief strategies and 3) Become able to make positive changes in your life
