In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The initial session is designed to establish a foundation for treatment through a structured yet collaborative process. During this appointment, clients can expect a comprehensive clinical assessment, which includes a review of presenting concerns, relevant personal and mental health history, and current functioning across key areas of life. This session also provides an opportunity to clarify goals for treatment, both immediate and long-term. Together, we will begin to identify patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to current challenges, while also highlighting existing strengths and resources. In alignment with a Cognitive Behavioral, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, the first session is conducted in a manner that prioritizes psychological safety, respect, and individualized care. Clients are not expected to share more than they are comfortable with; the pace of disclosure is guided collaboratively. Additionally, this session includes a review of the therapeutic process, including confidentiality, practice policies, and expectations for ongoing treatment. Clients are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in shaping the direction of their care. The goal of the initial session is to develop a clear understanding of each client’s unique needs and to begin establishing a professional, supportive therapeutic relationship focused on meaningful and measurable progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach is distinguished by its integration of evidence-based practices with a highly individualized, goal-oriented framework. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and person-centered techniques to address maladaptive thought patterns and emotional responses that often underlie psychological distress. What sets my work apart is a strong emphasis on both clinical accuracy and meaningful outcomes. I incorporate thorough assessment and diagnostic practices to ensure that treatment is appropriately tailored, while maintaining flexibility to adapt interventions based on each client’s evolving needs. Additionally, my extensive experience in trauma, crisis intervention, substance use, and work within the criminal justice system allows me to effectively support individuals facing complex and high-stress life circumstances. This background provides a broader perspective when addressing both acute challenges and long-standing patterns. Clients can expect a structured yet collaborative process focused on developing insight, building practical coping strategies, and achieving measurable progress toward their personal goals. My aim is to support lasting change by helping clients not only understand their experiences, but also actively reshape the patterns that impact their overall well-being and quality of life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.

Motivational Interviewing

The benefits of motivational interviewing include: Helping clients to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. Encouraging clients to envision a future free of substance abuse or mental health struggles. Preparing clients to become more receptive to treatment.

Trauma-Focused CBT

TF-CBT uses exposure principles and cognitive-restructuring techniques that are specific to the traumatic experience. Exposure involves gradually introducing individuals to reminders of the trauma that may be tangible, such as places or people, or intangible, such as specific memories of traumatic events.
