Monica Prince
Hi! My name is Monica. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey to healing. My approach to counseling is to provide encouragement, positivity, and support to develop the tools, education, and strength necessary to move forward in life's biggest challenges. It is very important to me to understand challenges in an unbiased, non-judgmental, supportive, and empathetic way. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2012. I graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor in Psychology and a minor in General Education. Then, I went on to receive a Dual Master's degree in counseling (Mental Health and School Counseling) from Webster University.
Through experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I strive to provide the tools and support clients need during some of life's most difficult situations.
First session
In our first session, we will begin with an introduction and answer any questions/concerns you may have regarding counseling. Then, we will discuss your current situation and challenges you may be facing. From this introductory session, this will help me develop a plan for us to continue to work through during follow-up sessions.
Strengths
Through experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I strive to provide the tools and support clients need during some of life's most difficult situations. My top priority and strength as a counselor is to establish the most supportive, unbiased, and safest environment as possible. I feel this approach allows clients to dive deeper into the core of issues and be vulnerable and honest through their healing journey.
Ideal clients
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I strive to provide quality counseling to a variety of clients. I have a lot experience working in the areas of in-person private practice; group therapy; advocating for children through Guardian ad Litem; outpatient substance abuse counseling and DUI programs; and school counseling at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have found that combining techniques related to thinking and behavior has proven beneficial for a multitude of issues and concerns.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Moving directly to the "core" of an issue decreases stress and anxiety related to most difficulties that life creates.
