Daily we utilize CBT tools to notice our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as we process what is happening with our "self" and others. It is a foundational treatment method that helps us improve our lives. Have you ever noticed your thoughts? Or have you noticed how you feel after thinking about a particular topic for a while? Did you feel better or worse? CBT helps us to notice, challenge, and navigate through negative thoughts by empowering ourselves with more positive thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
DBT is a treatment method that is powerful for shifting our thought patterns from all-or-nothing, black-and-white thinking to a fuller, more colorful array of options kind of thinking where we can see the bigger picture. Utilizing the DBT tools allows us to become more aware of stuck thought processes and helps us find new ways of looking at the problem and find more viable options for solving that problem. We find effective tools for mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness or relationship building skills.
