I have been a therapist since 2000 and licensed since 2008. I work primarily with young to middle aged and older adults now. I also have worked extensively with children ages 7 and older. I will work with you to explore thoughts, feelings, and problems on a more internal and psychological level which I believe has a longer lasting impact while still clearing up the more overt behaviors. I use an eclectic style that includes a psychodymamic approach, cognitive-behavioral therapy, self-empowerment techniques, meditation and mindfulness. My sense of humor and relaxed, informal manner can help you feel safe and comfortable. I like to incorporate meditation, mindfulness, and positive visualization. With young to middle adults, we may address personal and career goals, job stress, and relationships, with older adults, transitioning from the workforce to retirement and managing grief and loss. If you are in the Cincinnati area, we do have the option of in-person/office based sessions, which we can discuss at the first session.
We start out just getting to know one another, completing the assessment on the first session, as well as establishing a goal or goals for therapy. After that first session, we explore your experiences and feelings and I keep it client centered. You really lead the session and tell me more what you want to talk about and work on. For children, I use play based therapy, art activities, and let them take the lead as well. I also work with parents as needed, and we include parent sessions in addition to individual sessions for your child.
I am not so formal and do not show up with an agenda or a manual - I mostly follow the client, but I am also direct as needed, and I have a good sense of humor, a relaxed manner that puts clients at ease. Most kids find me funny and like the toys and activities in my office.
Clients from young adulthood to mid-life and older adults. Two populations where I feel there is a need for mental health are 30 - 50 year old men experiencing more "male life issues", life transitions, career changes, and they need someone to talk to, as well as older adults who may have never sought therapy before but need support now in their later years. I also like to work with creative people in the arts.

I don't come to the session with an agenda. It is more important what the client brings to the session - so the focus is more on what the client wants to talk about or what they may bring up at any given session. However, knowing what we had talked about in previous sessions, I may bring up those issues or topics so that we can follow up and build on those experiences and do further exploration and resolution.
Used with children - client centered - allows the child to have the space to explore and express themselves
