Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In a first session, it can be expected to spend a lot of time providing information and personal history. From that information, we will discuss symptoms and possible diagnoses. Once that has happened, a discussion of goals and ways to achieve the goals will be had in order to develop a treatment plan. We will also discuss criteria for discharge and what all that looks like. I will allow for the client to ask me whatever questions needed, which will include information about myself and experience treatment mental health concerns.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My experience has allowed me the ability to assist clients with understanding how some thoughts and feelings are distorted and create distress that can look like anxiety and/or depression. I have developed strategies to assist clients with recognizing those thoughts that appear automatic, in order to find the distortion and reframe it to change responses to certain situations. Another important characteristic to have is being unjudgemental. Judging a person for the decisions and behaviors can create other distressful symptoms and a lack of trust. My experience with mindfulness, helps me incorporate meditation into most of my sessions as a means to relieve distress, regardless of the diagnosis.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I currently have a very diverse caseload which includes clients of various ages, family and couple's, as well as sate of life transitions. I ask all of my clients to be open to change as it is inevitable. Together, we can address those barriers that keep you stuck in a place that is no longer fulfilling and causes distress.

Had our first couples session with Tracy and she did a great job guiding the conversation and making us both feel heard. Looking forward to growing through this process with her. I’ll also be starting individual sessions and feel confident in her support.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I have been using EMDR in my practice in order to assist individuals with various types of traumatic experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT since having my license. This method assist and aids clients in understanding how thoughts and feelings influence behaviors. It is also helpful to get clients to pay attention to thought processes and how even those thoughts identifed as automatic thoughts can also be challenged and reframed to produce more positive feelings causing more positive behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT allows the client to learn how to stay mindful in the present moment to decrease symptoms of various disorders including anxiety and some personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. It also assists with distress regulation and developing those essential skills needed to be present.
