Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our sessions, clients will work on identifying their goals and creating coping skills around triggers. We will work to identify challenging patterns and create safe pathways through those.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I specialize in working with clients who are ready to overcome old patterns and have the insight and awareness to seek new habits. I allow the client to be an expert in their own healing journey and together we can co-construct a new narrative to guide their life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Clients who benefit most from my work are deep thinkers, cycle breakers and people with the willingness to try new experiences to change. I enjoy working with clients on a variety of modalities to address changing troublesome patterns in their lives. In the past I have worked in adult and pediatric emergency settings completing risk evaluations and diagnostics with a variety of clients.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have trained extensively on CBT for adults and adolescents. I use it to help clients connect their feelings and beliefs with their actions and behaviors. Many clients who struggle with anxiety and depression find it particularly helpful.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that helps people process and heal from distressing life experiences by recalling a disturbing memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tones, or tapping). This process helps "reprogram" the memory, reducing the emotional distress associated with it. I have completed training level 1 and 2 training and required supervision hours in this modality.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I used ACT therapy to help clients cultivate flexibility, living within their values and trying pattern breaking ideas to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and PTSD.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I completed a C-DBT certificate after a lengthy training period. I use DBT with clients to help promote distress tolerance, acceptance of difficult events and mood regulation.

Joni has helped me incredibly by actively challenging me to think differently of my situations and focus on what will help me to feel like myself again. I enjoy how she listens and doesn’t judge when I’m judging myself deeply, and she genuinly cares about how I’m doing.

I really like how Joni asks questions that relate to why I'm working with her. She redirects me back to what we need to uncover and understands me! I appreciate her!
