I describe myself as a grounded, authentic, and collaborative therapist who balances a warm heart with a highly practical, real world approach to healing. I’m not the type to just sit back and nod silently; I am right there in the trenches with you, bringing my genuine, slightly nerdy self to every session, and I believe everyone has an inner resilience waiting to be unlocked! My life is full, beautifully chaotic, and deeply rewarding. As a spouse and a mother of four, including a wonderful child who is autistic, I intimately understand what it feels like to manage a million moving parts. I know the exhaustion of a racing mind, the weight of sensory and emotional overload, and the delicate art of balancing family, transitions, and personal growth. Because of these lived experiences, I bring a deeply human, judgment-free perspective to my practice. In sessions, we will use evidence-based tools like CBT and DBT to actively build a practical toolkit for your daily life. We will work as a team to quiet the internal noise, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and master concrete skills to regulate intense emotions. For clients who desire it, I gladly incorporate a Christ-centered approach, utilizing scripture and prayer as an anchor for our clinical work. However, if you are currently facing a painful crisis of faith or spiritual burnout, I offer a safe harbor to process those doubts without a shred of judgment. Ultimately, I meet you exactly where you are. My goal is to help you calm the chaos, break through emotional blocks, and reclaim your peace.

With over a decade of experience in behavioral health, recovery support, education, and community advocacy, I bring an integrative and trauma-informed approach to therapy that honors the complexity of each person’s story. My clinical work focuses on helping individuals navigate complex trauma, substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health concerns, attachment wounds, emotional dysregulation, and major life transitions with compassion, collaboration, and practical tools for healing. My clinical background includes work in outpatient therapy, homeless services, crisis stabilization, justice-involved recovery programming, and family mental health navigation. I have worked extensively with individuals impacted by chronic trauma, homelessness, incarceration, grief, relationship instability, and systemic barriers to care. Across these settings, I prioritize creating a therapeutic relationship grounded in safety, authenticity, empowerment, and nonjudgment. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I incorporate integrative mental health perspectives that recognize the connection between mind, body, nervous system functioning, and overall wellness. Through advanced training in integrative mental health, Food as Medicine, nutrition and mental health, CBT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, ACT, Brainspotting, IFS-informed approaches, and trauma treatment, I help clients explore how factors such as sleep, nutrition, stress, nervous system regulation, and lifestyle patterns can influence emotional well-being. I believe healing is most sustainable when we address both psychological and physiological contributors to distress. My therapeutic style is relational, collaborative, and adaptable to the individual needs of each client. I draw from evidence-based modalities, mindfulness-based interventions,, somatic and nervous system-informed approaches, and trauma-focused care. Whether clients are seeking support for trauma recovery, substance use, anxiety, depression, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or personal growth, I strive to create a space where they feel seen, supported, and capable of meaningful change.

I believe therapy works best when it feels less like a clinical appointment and more like a conversation with someone who's genuinely listening — really listening, not just waiting for their turn to speak. That's the space I try to create in every session: one where you can be honest without feeling judged, and where you leave feeling a little lighter than when you walked in. Many of my clients tell me they felt comfortable opening up right away, even in their very first session. That's not an accident — I take the time to understand where you actually are in your life before jumping to solutions. Whether you're navigating a major life transition, working through anxiety or depression, or just feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward, my goal is to help you see your situation more clearly and find a path that actually fits your life. I use an integrative approach — drawing on humanistic, solution-focused, and behavioral techniques — but the tools matter less than the relationship. I want you to feel heard, supported, and a little more hopeful after every conversation we have.

Hello! My name is Jessica and I have been working in the human services and mental health field since 2013, concentrating on therapy for the previous 3 years. My frameworks for therapy are strengths based and solution focused, with an emphasis on improving confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem for all. I believe in the power of humor, community, and finding a way to be a little more kind to ourselves each day. Previous clients have stated that my therapeutic approach was compassionate with a warm directness when needed. I received my Bachelor’s from the University of Denver, and during my time there worked in resource advocacy for low income women and also led a self-esteem building group for teenage girls. Earning my degree in Gender Studies laid a foundation for viewing the world through a lens of social justice, structural inequality, and intersectionality. In 2018 I graduated with a Masters in Social Work from VCU. My work since that time has included services for people experiencing homelessness in the Richmond area, hospital discharge coordination, and emergency room psychiatric assessments and crisis intervention for inpatient hospital admission. When not working, I can be found spending time with my two senior pets, growing hot peppers in the backyard, and enjoying a good book.

I’m a licensed professional counselor who works with adults navigating identity, relationships, ambition, and the internal pressure to “have it together.” Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, high-capacity individuals who appear stable and successful on the outside but feel conflicted, stuck, or emotionally isolated underneath. My role is to create a space where complexity is welcomed and nothing has to be simplified to be understood. My background in mental health allows me to approach therapy with both clinical rigor and relational depth. I pay attention to patterns — in attachment, communication, shame, avoidance, over-functioning, and self-criticism — and help you understand how those patterns developed and why they made sense at the time. From there, we work toward updating them so they align with who you are now, not who you had to be in order to survive earlier chapters of your life. I tend to be direct, engaged, and structured. I don’t believe in vague therapy that drifts without direction. At the same time, I don’t rush the process. Insight without application doesn’t create change, and action without understanding doesn’t create stability. We work toward both.

I am an African American woman with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and more than 6 years providing outpatient therapy in the state of Virginia. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2018. My professional journey has been deeply rooted in serving individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, with a strong commitment to culturally responsive, ethical, and compassionate care. My work centers on supporting individuals who struggle with identity, self-worth, and negative or distorted beliefs about themselves. Many of the clients I serve feel disconnected from who they are, shaped by past trauma, life transitions, systemic barriers, or repeated experiences of disappointment and loss. I help clients explore these experiences, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop a healthier, more authentic sense of self. Through a strength-based, client-centered, and evidence-informed approach, I work collaboratively with clients to uncover their inner resilience, increase self-awareness, and build emotional insight. Therapy is a space where clients are encouraged to show up fully—without judgment—while learning practical tools to manage emotions, improve relationships, and make empowered decisions aligned with their values and goals. As a clinician, I believe healing is not only about symptom reduction, but also about reclaiming identity, restoring confidence, and learning how to live with intention and purpose. My goal is to create a safe, affirming environment where clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they move toward growth, clarity, and long-term emotional wellness.

We are responsible for our own choices, and sometimes for the choices of others. That responsibility can feel daunting, especially when change is already unfolding beneath the surface. I believe that asking for help is itself a courageous act of authenticity. My practice provides a direct, down-to-earth space for adults navigating major life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and pattern breaking, focusing entirely on real-time reality and practical tools you can use outside of our sessions.

You already have the tools and skills necessary to thrive in life, but these skills need to be identified and honed in order to be put to use and effective. My approach to psychotherapy is to focus on strengths and build resilience as we address problems of living. Life is hard and together we can be brave. My treatment approach is based in third wave behavioral therapies (mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy). My primary focus is holistic care, recognizing and treating the whole person. I have spent over 15 years working as a mental health provider in the medical setting, dealing with life and death situations that affect my patients and their families. This work has allowed me to be present for the full range of human experience and recognize the strengths that each individual possesses. I have a background in philosophy, which informs my perspective on the challenges that people face and ways to resolve problems. In addition i have specialized experience working with LGBTI+ individuals. I live in Phoenix and am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in CA, AZ, and VA.
