Hello, My name is Keith, I have been working with youth and adolescents in the mental health field for about thirteen years. I have worked with young people suffering from traumatic experiences (PTSD), to include physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. I have assisted young people with symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. Also, I have experience in assisting young people with self-esteem/self-worth issues. I have helped young people who are suicidal and with individuals suffering from psychotic disorders. Further, I have assisted young people with tension within the home setting and ways he or she can navigate these feelings in a healthy manner. Personally, I have two daughters that are my world and a very spoiled elderly dog. I enjoy sports, working out, and being outdoors. I have been described as very easy going and easy to talk to. In my practice, the client comes first, and the conversation goes where he or she would like it to.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, a client can expect time getting to know one another and working to make the client feel comfortable within the counseling setting. Moving forward we will work on a plan of the client's needs and working on strategies to assist those needs. Within reasonable intervals I will have discussions with the client to see where he or she is in the counseling experience and if the client has any further needs that I may not be able to assist.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize counseling strategies based around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I enjoy talk therapy and utilizing tools that the client enjoys such as drawing or journaling or any other tool the client enjoys doing. Further, my practice is client centered and based on what the client needs and what will make this experience best for him or her.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is my ability to listen and always meeting the client where he or she is in the moment. I have an innate ability to understand people and not push people too hard but also have an understanding of knowing when it is a good time to push the client in an effort to assist him or her.
