Hi all, my name of Faye Miles and I am a Breast cancer survivor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and have been licensed since 2010. Do you find little happiness in your life? Do you find yourself anxious, depressed, unfilled in relationships, constantly comparing yourself to others? Or do you find little time for yourself always giving your all to your work or others? Have you been hurt by others and are looking for healing or experienced loss that has left you depleted? What if I told you, there are ways to live and feel happy and fulfilled. There are ways to heal. Self-love is important because it motivates much of our positive behavior while reducing harmful behavior. It both empowers us to take risks and to say no to things that don't work for us. It's a key component of building self-compassion. Self-love helps us take care of ourselves, lower stress, and strive for success and I strive to help adolescents, young adults and adults find fulfillment and happiness through exploration and exercises into their identity. This also can promote healing. I am passionate about this work and working with others and if you feel I am the right fit we will work together in this journey to help you explore, find resources and hopefully find self-love, and compassion.

Everyone needs help from time to time. I enjoy helping people to find their strengths; their gifts, talents and abilities that they were created with. Whether you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or just feeling stuck, therapy can provide a safe place to work things out and find solutions that are right for you. I find that many people are helped by connection with a therapist, someone who will listen, but also use their training and experience, bringing that into the relationship.

Bio I'm Melissa and I'm an LPC in the State of Virginia. I am passionate about mental health, healing, and hope. Understanding your mental health and what is going on with you is the starting point on your healing journey. I grew up in Seattle Washington and attended college in Oregon. I received my Master’s in Professional Counseling through Liberty University in 2016. I've lived in Virginia for the past 16 years. I am a single mom with 4 kids. I love laughing, reading, and spending time with my kids. I grew up in an alcoholic family and credit Jesus with keeping me away from the dysfunction I grew up in. I offer a Christian worldview. I have been a counselor for 8 years and have worked with many age groups with various diagnoses and in a variety of settings. Counseling needs to be a safe place and a counselor needs to be a person who can handle talking about the tough stuff. Counseling is not polite conversation. I begin the counseling relationship with developing emotional safety, educating clients about mental health and creating a better understanding of what is going on with them, processing their experiences, and developing a "toolbox" to help them improve their lives. I focus on emotions- why we have them, how to sit with them, and how to manage them. I believe that "the only way out is through" and to tackle struggles, a comprehensive approach is needed to look at family history, family dynamics, biological issues, psychological issues, cultural influences, medical history, social influences, spiritual influences, and current level of functioning. This information allows me to plan treatment to ensure that you receive the best care. I provide counseling for relationship struggles parenting, trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ADHD, and adult children of alcoholics.

Hi! I'm Jen Tucker, a licensed mental health counselor who is passionate about serving others. I'm a military veteran and a military spouse. I'm also a wife, mom, and grandmother. I've been through a lot in my life. Most of you have too. After all, you find yourself here looking for something. It is my firm belief that each and every one of us has tremendous potential. We all have unique talents and skills, honed and sharpened through our life experiences. These experiences, while crucial to shaping us, can also leave us hurt, confused, numb, or insecure. It is paramount that we stop along our journey to take stock, address our needs, heal, and refocus. Sometimes, we realize we may benefit from having extra support or guidance through these moments. That is where therapy can help. Throughout my counseling career, I have had the privilege of being able to walk beside clients as they process the past, learn to be comfortable in the present, and get excited for the future. I am certified in trauma and treat clients with a wide range of concerns. Whether you feel ready to dive into therapy, or you are just contemplating the idea, I'd love to hear from you. I am currently accepting video clients for individual therapy. If you aren't ready to make contact, I have some resources available for self-reflection. Do you ever feel stressed out or on edge? Do your thoughts seem to spin out of control or lead to fear of future situations? Does that worry prevent you from being present in the moment or keep you from getting restful sleep at night? If you are ready to regain control of your thoughts and live a more present and fulfilled life then you have come to the right place. Hi! I’m Sarah Theimer, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional level 2 (CCTP-II) in Virginia. I am also a Christian and the proud wife of a first responder. I provide anxiety and trauma treatment, helping adults breakthrough the cycle of worry and trauma to live a more present and fulfilled life. To help you reach your goals, I use a two-fold approach by teaching you tools to help cope with everyday stressors and manage the intensity of emotions while exploring past experiences which have/are impacting the way you currently feel/behave. As a therapist, I strongly believe in exploring past hurts and experiences to help you better understand what led you to this point and assist in treating the root causes of the anxiety and trauma. I aim to keep sessions goal oriented and structured to assist individuals in meeting their goals. I earned my master’s degree from Lynchburg College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have eight years of experience in the mental health field and have worked in settings to include substance use clinics, inpatient mental health settings, and corrections facilities throughout my time in the mental health field. I have training in and utilize evidence-based approaches to include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).

I am a person-centered therapist with a deep commitment to creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own experiences and that our work together should revolve around your needs and goals. As a sex-positive therapist, my goal is to create an environment that is open and affirming towards discussions surrounding sexuality, traditional and nontraditional relationships, and sexual identity. As a geek-aware therapist, I understand the power of pop culture, gaming, technology, and all things nerdy. I embrace your passions, whether it's delving into the world of comic books, discussing the latest sci-fi TV series, or exploring video game narratives. Geek culture provides a rich tapestry of themes and references that we can utilize to deepen our therapeutic conversations and make the process more engaging and relatable to you. My passions lie in working with young adults, and couples, and with the challenges and pressures men face.

Hi, I'm Cindy! Thank you for stopping by. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the states of MA, VT, NJ, VA, NC, SC and TX. I focus on how the events of our childhood and all of our life experiences have shaped the person we are today. How we react, handle stress and the way we show up in our relationships is influenced by the way we view ourselves in those relationships from our past. I am inquisitive, and I use a down to earth style with a holistic approach. I believe that in order to thrive, we must heal from within by providing our body with proper sleep, nurishment, movement and time in nature.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Virginia rather than a city like Richmond?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Virginia. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Virginia from Norfolk to Roanoke! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Virginia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
