New to Grow
My name is Lillian Gebert. I have been in practice as a therapist for 14 plus years and consider myself a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist with experience treating various types of mental health disorder including substance abuse disorder/dual diagnosis. I am very compassionate, empathic and caring, know how to set healthy boundaries and ofter hope to my clients while helping clients to achieve their goals in treatment.
After the first session client typically feel less nervous, comfortable and find I am easy to talk to. I am basically "down to earth" with a good sense of humor. Several questions are asked during the first session in an attempt to get to know the client. Clients are also given an opportunity to ask questions.
I use a strength based approach, active listening and plenty of validation. Each client has basic human needs as well as unique needs and I listen closely to determine the best type of therapy that will encourage clients to make the changes needed for healing and growth.
Any client willing to come to therapy with a determination to learn, grow and heal will be able to benefit in therapy. At times therapy can be difficult but being motivated and committed are important traits to possess. Honesty is foundational to growth and needs to be developed within the relationship as trust and safety grows. An ideal client will be able to share any difficulties experienced within the relationship--what is working, what is not working.
It is important to help clients understand how thoughts, feelings and behaviors correlate and how to make changes that improve mental health.
