I have provided therapeutic support to individuals with mental health and addiction-related diagnoses for over 12 years in outpatient and inpatient settings. I work with children ages 6 and up, adolescents, adults, and military members and families to help them get through life issues and stressors. Through the use of Motivational Enhancement, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brief Psychodynamic interventions, symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, and abuse can be addressed in therapy. My educational background includes a Master of Arts in International Studies from East Carolina University and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am also fluent in Spanish and can provide support to Spanish-speaking individuals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then go into the specific challenges you are facing and want to address. Together we will develop a treatment plan for us to work through in our follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have many telehealth resources to support individuals in achieving their treatment goals. I understand the benefit of validation as well as providing education on practical coping skills that can be utilized consistently.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is helpful as we explore how thoughts impact feelings and behaviors. As we explore these three things together, we will also explore and learn ways to manage negative thoughts, distortions and irrational thoughts that impact our feelings and how we act in order to regulate them.

Christian Counseling

Faith based counseling is available and can be part of the process of therapy based on your belief system.

Motivational Interviewing

It is important that individuals are validated for their experiences and feelings, and allowed a safe space to process without being judged. Motivational interviewing provides individuals that safe space and allows clinicians to meet the individual where they are in their therapeutic process.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy in conjunction with CBT helps individuals decenter, which is a focus on becoming aware of all incoming thoughts and feelings and accepting them, but not attaching or reacting to them. It is a way of letting go of distorted thoughts and ruminating, and being present.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care will help individuals explore their trauma without having to explore every detail or aspect of the trauma that could lead to potentially being re-traumatized. We will explore and process the trauma by acknowledging it happened and how it may be impacting the individual in the present time.
