Inner peace comes when we accept ourselves, live in the present, find hope for the future and consciously choose how we respond to the world around us. Let’s embark on this healing journey together because you are truly worth it! My theoretical framework is whole person focused (biological, psychological, social and spiritual), client centered, strength based and is collaborative/relational in nature. I have found that our laughter is healing, our tears are cleansing, and our human diversity is amazing. I look forward to working with you!
Our first encounter will be a brief introductory appointment (about 20mins). It will be a casual time to get to know each other so that we can determine if we are indeed a "good fit". I will ask you about the things that brought you to therapy at this time, what your past therapy experience has been like and what you are hoping to achieve for this current period of treatment (your goals). I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have about my treatment approaches and any other treatment related concerns.
My greatest strength as a provider is that I genuinely enjoy the time spent with my clients and my greatest reward is when my clients begin to experience increased fulfillment in their lives. My main job is to work myself out of a job!
I am best positioned to serve a client that is ready for change, is not afraid to dive deep and be challenged, is willing to work between sessions to activate some of the things learned and is spunky enough to challenge the therapist back when something needs to be adjusted to better fit them. Therapy is a collaborative relationship, and the client is the expert in their own life.
CBT is my foundational training modality and is integrated into all of my person-centered treatment methods. What we tell ourselves about ourselves, others and the world around us is central to our mental health. The ability to connect to and regulate our bodies is also a basic CBT skill.
CPT is a form of CBT and is an example of how my ongoing training rests on a CBT foundation. In CPT the specific focus pertains to the verbal or written processing of distressful or traumatic life events from our past that may have caused us to become emotionally "stuck" in some way.
