I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

Hi all, my name of Faye Miles and I am a Breast cancer survivor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and have been licensed since 2010. Do you find little happiness in your life? Do you find yourself anxious, depressed, unfilled in relationships, constantly comparing yourself to others? Or do you find little time for yourself always giving your all to your work or others? Have you been hurt by others and are looking for healing or experienced loss that has left you depleted? What if I told you, there are ways to live and feel happy and fulfilled. There are ways to heal. Self-love is important because it motivates much of our positive behavior while reducing harmful behavior. It both empowers us to take risks and to say no to things that don't work for us. It's a key component of building self-compassion. Self-love helps us take care of ourselves, lower stress, and strive for success and I strive to help adolescents, young adults and adults find fulfillment and happiness through exploration and exercises into their identity. This also can promote healing. I am passionate about this work and working with others and if you feel I am the right fit we will work together in this journey to help you explore, find resources and hopefully find self-love, and compassion.

Hellooo! I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist living in Virginia. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Regent University in 2008. I have lived in many different places but mostly I grew up in eastern North Carolina and Europe. Having parents from western New York and southern West Virginia, I was raised in a "northern" household in a "southern" environment. I like to think these contrasts in my life have helped me learn to adapt and identify with many different types of people. While I value the privilege of being an American, I love what other nationalities contribute to my world. Standing beside my clients and walking with them through their difficult times is one of my greatest joys.

I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 20 years and have worked in the field of mental health both, in-patient and out-patient, for over 25 years. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)and Rational Emotive (RET) therapies to guide patients toward a greater understanding of themselves with the goal of emotional equilibrium or “balance.” The large military presence in Hampton Roads has allowed me to work with active-duty personnel and their families. Hi, I’m Robyn Slayton-Lopez, a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel supportive, genuine, and, even when we’re doing hard work, sometimes a little bit human and real. I work with adults navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, substance use, and dual diagnoses. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism, through an affirming and strengths-based lens. My approach is compassionate, practical, and tailored to each person I work with. I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often driven by fear or pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule. I usually offer mostly daytime hours so having the time to meet during the day is important.

I am a Doctor of Social Work, trauma specialized, and clinically licensed in DC, VA, SC, RI and IN as a social worker and substance use disorder therapist serving children, teens, and adults (mandated and non-mandated). We can focus on anger, feelings of hopelessness, overwhelm, panic, grief, always thinking, people pleasing, holding guilt and shame, inability to focus, nightmares, and so many other thoughts, feelings, experiences, and emotions that result from the environment around us. We can really lean into substance use and the agonizing cycle of it all. I am nationally certified in TF-CBT (ages 3-18), and CPT and PE trained for adults with PTSD. Additionally, you can receive mindfulness-based, somatic integration, and a holistic lens to examine your needs via my 11 years’ experience and an additional master's in integrative health coaching plus 20 years’ experience in therapeutic design, so we can look together at social and environmental problem and solution spaces based upon your needs. I've also worked for several years in urban public school systems, so can help students, caregivers, and educators navigating school-based stress. I am culturally humble and honor intersectionality. Thank YOU for reading about how we can partner to increase your feelings of hope and wellness.

Hi there! I am Stephen Kovacs a licensed clinical social worker with 5 years of experience helping adults who feel constantly “on edge” from anxiety and panic—always braced for the next shoe to drop, even when life looks fine from the outside. I’m licensed as an LISW-CP in South Carolina and an LCSW in North Carolina and Virginia and practice predominantly in the evenings via telehealth. My focus is on high-responsibility adults who are tired of living in survival mode: racing thoughts, worst‑case scenarios, physical symptoms like a racing heart or tight chest, and the burnout that comes from holding everything together for everyone else. Together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of what anxiety and panic are doing in your body and your life, and build concrete tools to manage spirals, reduce avoidance, and feel more in control day to day—not with fluffy advice, but with step‑by‑step, doable changes.

I'm a queer, trans, and neurodivergent Egyptian therapist experienced in working with LGBTQIA+ adults and adolescents. Although I take immense pride in these labels and in my communities, my therapeutic approach does not expect you to fit yourself neatly into any boxes. Instead, my role is to help you learn how to live in alignment with your specific values and priorities, particularly when it comes to figuring out the gray areas in life. It's tricky answering questions like, How do you reconnect with your heritage after experiencing it in hurtful ways? How do you heal from childhood trauma while preserving familial relationships that are still important to you? How do you build meaningful friendships and romantic relationships when self-love still feels like an enigma? These are the types of questions I particularly enjoy exploring with my clients. We will always take the time we need to figure out the concrete skills necessary for navigating daily life (e.g. emotional regulation, communication strategies, adaptive reframes for unhelpful thoughts, etc.), but the next level of growth lives in these nebulous existential questions. By compounding established skills with acceptance, psychological flexibility, and letting go of control where it is not adaptive, we can help you foster the kind of inner peace that adds both serenity and deeper meaning to daily life.

If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Virginia.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
