Lawrence Holloway Jr
I’m a compassionate, collaborative therapist who believes healing begins with feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood. I seek to promote wellness and empower clients to take an active role in directing their lives. I utilize a strengths-based, culturally responsive approach that recognizes that our well-being is shaped not only by personal experiences but also by the relationships, communities, cultures, and systems around us. My practice offers a nonjudgmental space to explore what has been weighing on you, reconnect with your strengths, and make choices that feel more aligned with your values and sense of self. Together, we can work toward meaningful change, greater self-trust, and a life that feels more authentic and sustainable.
First session
In your first session, you can expect a welcoming, collaborative conversation focused on getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about the concerns, experiences, relationships, or transitions that have been affecting you, as well as what you hope might feel different in your life. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. I’ll help guide the conversation at a pace that feels manageable, and you can share only what feels comfortable. We may begin identifying your goals, strengths, and the support that would be most helpful, while also making space for the larger cultural, relational, and systemic contexts that shape your experiences. By the end of the first session, you can expect a clearer sense of what therapy with me may be like, an opportunity to ask questions, and a chance to decide whether working together feels like a good fit.
Strengths
I have been told that it is easy to talk to me, even for people who normally would not otherwise choose to participate in therapy. I try to balance support and accountability in my work.
Ideal clients
My ideal client may be navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship challenges, identity exploration, life transitions, or the effects of past experiences. They may be students, emerging adults, working professionals, caregivers, or people moving through changes in relationships, family roles, work, school, or community. Some may feel pressure to hold it all together while feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of what they need. You may feel like you have to constantly prove yourself, be strong for everyone else, or measure your worth by standards that do not reflect who you truly are. You might find yourself comparing your life to others’, struggling with confidence, feeling misunderstood, or wondering whether your circumstances have already determined your future. I work well with clients who want therapy to be a collaborative, affirming space—not a place where they are judged, pathologized, or told what to do. Together, we can slow down, get curious about patterns in your life, and consider both your personal experiences and the cultural, relational, and systemic forces that shape them. Our work can focus on building self-trust and boundaries, strengthening relationships, processing difficult experiences, and creating a life that feels more authentic, sustainable, and aligned with your values.
Treatment methods
Integrative
I use an integrative approach to therapy, meaning I draw from more than one evidence-informed framework and tailor our work to your unique needs, goals, strengths, and lived experience. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, we will work together to identify what feels most supportive and effective for you. Depending on what you are navigating, our work may include exploring the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; building practical coping and communication skills; processing past experiences; strengthening self-compassion; and examining patterns in relationships. I also take a liberatory, culturally responsive lens, recognizing that identity, community, culture, and larger systems can meaningfully shape mental health and access to healing. Therapy can be both reflective and practical: a space to understand yourself more deeply while also developing tools that help you navigate daily life, relationships, and the changes you want to make.
