Despite what you have been through, your past mistakes, hurts, and disappointments do not have to define you. I would like to support you while nurturing your self-love, self-worth, and self-advocacy. Hello, my name is Fashen, I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Florida and Virginia. I have nine years of experience in the mental health field with a history of working with survivors of intimate partner violence, individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), providing crisis intervention, and practicing within inpatient behavioral health settings. My focus is supporting adults who are experiencing depression, struggling with self-esteem issues, difficulty maintaining healthy personal boundaries and/or navigating the lasting effects of childhood emotional wounds and the challenges that can arise from growing up in dysfunctional environments. Additionally, I provide support to women who need assistance processing grief related to a terminated pregnancy. Overall, I am committed to supporting my clients with their mental health needs while offering a safe space where they may show up as their authentic selves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Whether you attend one session with me or 20, I want you to walk away from each session feeling seen, heard, understood, and empowered. Also, in therapy, we will explore the thinking patterns and behaviors that may be causing you distress today, allowing us to identify the roots of these issues and develop healthier coping strategies. Through a collaborative approach, we will work together to help you uncover the habits, thoughts, and feelings that are keeping you from living your authentic life. I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate space where we can explore your concerns and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Choosing the right therapist is very important. It’s sort of like trying on different pairs of shoes until you find the right fit. So, explore your options to ensure that your therapist align with your needs and treatment goals. As a therapist, I believe my greatest strength is creating a non-judgmental environment where clients are allowed to be vulnerable, presenting their authentic selves. Also, I am patient, open-minded, empathetic and understanding.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

One may find themselves struggling with codependence, people pleasing tendencies, low self-esteem and more. I will take a collaborative approach to help you identify the habits, thoughts, and/or feelings that are hindering you from achieving your authentic self and together will brainstorm healthier ways of coping.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are deeply interconnected, like a three-stranded cord. When one strand unravels, it can disrupt our entire reality, leaving us with confusion and challenges. My goal is to help you identify negative thinking patterns that may be contributing to unwanted feelings and behaviors. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, we will work together to uncover and challenge these patterns, allowing you to see things from a new perspective. In time, we will focus on developing healthy coping strategies and protective factors to counteract these negative thoughts and emotions. By replacing unhelpful patterns with more balanced, realistic thinking, you’ll begin to experience positive shifts in your feelings and behaviors. Together, we’ll create practical tools and strategies to promote your personal growth and resilience, helping you take control of your mental well-being and move forward with confidence.

Psychodynamic

I utilize psychodynamic therapy techniques to help clients explore the deeper, often unconscious, aspects of their minds. It’s based on the idea that past experiences, especially from childhood, can shape the way a person think, feel, and behave today. In this type of therapy, we will work together to uncover how unresolved emotions or early life experiences may still be influencing your current struggles.

Christian Counseling

I integrate Christian principles with therapeutic techniques to foster emotional healing, personal growth, and spiritual development. The approach is grounded in Biblical teachings, acknowledging God's presence in every aspect of human life and emphasizing a holistic perspective that includes spiritual, emotional, mental, and relational wellbeing.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize solution-focused therapy to help you understand your strengths, resources, and the solutions that can help you overcome challenges, rather than just exploring the problems or difficulties you're facing. The goal is to help you identify what has worked for you in the past, even in small ways, and to build on those successes. We also focus on your goals for the future and what steps you can take to get there, helping you create practical and achievable solutions.

Supportive

I provide supportive therapy as a means to provide emotional support, encouragement, and improve coping skills. Rather than focusing on exploring the root causes of mental health issues, supportive therapy emphasizes creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients may express themselves.
