Hey y'all! My name's Pam and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia. I've been practicing in the field of social work since graduating from Radford University with my Masters degree in 2010. Since 2018, I have worked within an inpatient psychiatric facility providing treatment to individuals with a variety of mental health needs. I've always had a passion for helping others and am excited to have this platform as a new way to help people better understand themselves and live life to their full potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll spend some time getting to know each other then we'll focus on discussing the challenges you're facing in life that have prompted you to seek help. Together, we will identify what you would like to accomplish through our sessions together. This will assist me in creating a plan to help you achieve your goal.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I've personally navigated mental health treatment and unfortunately have had more negative experiences than positive ones. I know what it's like to feel like providers are not invested in my treatment and like I'm the only one pushing to improve my mental health. My goal as a provider is to never create these feelings for anyone. I want you to see me as your strongest advocate and biggest cheerleader. I know the level of vulnerability it takes to ask for help and strive to create an environment where you feel safe and supported during our sessions together.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal client is you! I genuinely love helping people realize their potential and improve their understanding of themselves. I've spent most of my time as a social worker helping adults but also spent many years assisting teenagers in foster care. No matter what season of life you are in, I can't wait to work with you to help you live out the life you envision for yourself.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Our mental health is impacted by events experienced throughout our lifetime. The deep seated emotions related to these events are not typically what lead an individual to seek therapy. Often there is a current triggering event that prompts an individual to seek help. Using solution focused brief treatment, I will work with you to process this event and assist you in learning how best to cope with this event. My hope is that, through this process, you will see the benefit of therapy and continue meeting with me to dive into some of those deep seated emotions to continue improving your mental health.

Motivational Interviewing

Making the decision to engage in therapy takes bravery. Attending the first session is a noble step toward improving your mental health. Through motivational interviewing, I will walk by your side as you navigate through emotions and I will help you to find the motivation within yourself to continue on this journey.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

The number one person in your mental health treatment is YOU! Often, the answers we are seeking to navigate difficult situations and emotions lie within ourselves. Through discussion and reflection, I will help you see situations more clearly to assist with you finding the answers you are looking for.

Trauma Informed Care

I engage with everyone with the assumption they have experienced some level of trauma in their life. This means I treat everyone with compassion and respect, providing a safe space for you to feel comfortable sharing your life experiences. I spend time learning about events in your life and help you see how this impacts your engagement in current situations and relationships.

Psychoeducation

By providing psychoeducation, I will help you understand symptoms related to mental health diagnoses as well as improving your ability to identify and understand your emotions.
