LPC, 7 years of experience
I am a Virginia-based Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been practicing for 7 years. I earned my Master's from Troy State University in Alabama. I provide individual and couples therapy with a focus on resolving functionally impairing issues associated with anxiety, relationships, mood disorders, and trauma. I utilize common analogies to assist with providing varied perspectives so clients can recognize the depth of their potential.
The journey through life is unpredictable. So, when you feel as if challenges are coming at you from every direction, you should confront them. It is important to take control of your story by determining your path. The first session is the beginning of the therapeutic process. We will discuss the thoughts, feelings, and behavior that negatively impact your day-to-day functioning. Also, preliminary goals will be identified, and expectations discussed.
As a provider I believe my greatest strength is that I understand that life happens to everyone; therefore, I can empathize with many of the challenges and struggles people experience at different stages of their lives.
I enjoy working with people who are interested in making positive life changes. The clients I work with understand their current circumstances do not define who they are and do not dictate their futures.

Carolyn made me feel so comfortable to open up to her. I look forward to our next session in a week or 2.

I think Dr. Palmore does an amazing job at listening and providing reference for her guidance. Therapy obviously is a personal journey whether you want to heal, grow or just express but when you have the right therapist you have no choice but to evolve. My sessions with Dr. Palmore have been surprisingly intimate and truly authentic. I know everyone does not initially have that experience but I would respond to say they just didn't have a therapist like her.

I love her she’s the best!
Carolyn Palmore offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I use CBT in my practice to assist clients in recognizing the connection and impact of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. When implementing CBT techniques clients can make positive changes to their dysfunctional or nonadaptive behaviors.
